They're back in the office. It looks interesting, and they are airing the first two episodes of the season tonight, beginning now.

Just realized this was dropping tonight.

In. Really hope it's back to what it used to be.

Episode 1 was good. Lana's new dickhead husband is perfect.

Episode 2 starting now.

The first 4 seasons of Archer was some of the best TV of all time.

Things started to skid a bit when they did the Archer: Vice season. Things jumped the shark when they were no longer the ISIS agency. I get that they were trying to make things fresh and new but the formula was perfect and they went away from that.

The first two episodes of this season have been a step in the right direction.

Side notes: Seems like the updated the graphics a bit and Lana's voice sounded different.

I got that too. She still sounds the same when she's yelling, but I guess Tyler smokes or got older or something.

Well, they also didn't like being associated with ISIS. So . . . yeah, I get it.

And now for this amusing anecdote from show creator Adam Reed:

"I was at a meeting with the FX execs and I said, ‘You know, with all this extra ISIS merchandise, you should just make the bad guys buy it.' Dead silence. And then they said, ‘We have a lot of ISIS merchandise.' So I guess that's all going to a landfill somewhere."

Episodes 3 and 4 were good. Barry returns in E4.

Could also be the difference in recording, maybe. She's sounded more "normal" since episode 1.

Barry being back around is hilarious.

Maybe it sounds different if she had to record her lines from home?
Instead of a professional sound booth.

I dunno

I figured she tried to make her voice a little different to demonstrate age and maturity. The voice is different just like she and the whole team are different.

I'm finally catching up, and holy crap this season has been amazing. Any worries about it falling off completely without Reed have been put to rest.
My random thoughts so far:
I love how Pam is the only one who hasn't changed towards Archer. She was always his true sidekick imo, and it would've sucked if they made her cold towards him.

Sterling is obviously ruining the group again, but I've enjoyed the long play of breaking everyone one at a time

Lamenting Woodhouse being gone and missing torturing him is peak Archer.

And finally, I did notice the voices too, but more on Mallory than anyone else. I had to check during the first episode to make sure it was still Jessica Walter.

Me too. I thought they were running out of steam, but this season has been great.

I did not like Vice, but even the coma seasons were pretty entertaining. Not as good as the early seasons but not bad at all. This season is a hoot though.

I didn't know Adam Reed left the show, but it's been really good this season.

Yeah, that's why they did the montage ending at the end of last season. It was his way of saying goodbye as showrunner.

But he voices Ray, and Ray has been in the season, right?

And I have really enjoyed this season so far. I'm so glad they finally got back to the simple spy storyline.

Correct, he's still doing Ray, just not writing and being the show runner anymore.
