Sounds like the are pushing for actual theatrical releases for Mistborn which is somewhat surprising in this era

Henry Cavil tried to get Brandon on board with him playing Kaladin in the past but Brandon told him he was too old and not Asian.

I could see Cavil being Kelsier or Wax.

A Sanderson response on Reddit:

There is a reason I've been studying Tolkien lately. Peter Jackson and his team did a brilliant job on that and if you look at the special editions, they are roughly about the length of a season of a show together covering about the same wordcount as a stormlight book... It feels like they knew exactly what to keep and cut.

I just recently read both these series (Era 1 for Mistborn). For both series I kept thinking how awesome an anime version would be. The magic systems are well conceived for epic fight scenes. They combine physicality and powers in a way that would make the Matrix jealous.

The Stormlight series is in love with flashbacks, and I would prefer them to tell most of that story chronologically. They should start with Kaladin as a child and just follow from there. Unfortunately that leaves all the big set pieces for later in the story, but otherwise we'll be flashing back all the time.

And I agree that Shallan story can wait. Most of her book 1 story could be told in a couple of episodes at the beginning of season 2 and then have her unite with everyone on the plains as they have just emerged from the events of season 1. I'm curious how they will handle her split personality. I hope Brandon partners with an accomplished script writer who can steer him away from his worst impulses.

I can think of several Kaladin scenes that will be epic TV.

Absolutely not. It is incredibly easy to intercut flashbacks into a TV series.

Era 1 has some very amateur-ish prose

Definitely in the first book, but by the end his writing was great. I prefer Era1, because the world building was more vast, and the story overall was better. I enjoy both thoroughly, but E1 is special to me.

I have a hard time even revisiting era 1. Its just doesn't do it for me anymore, but i think it will make great films.

I just enjoy reading Era 2 more.

I think I am already exhausted by the Race discussion of Stormlight characters casting online and its been 1 day

Yes posted this on the book board earlier. I believe he mentioned that they would have some script people work on tightening up some parts in 2nd and 3rd drafts, but he already did multiple revisions before turning in the first draft.

I'm trying to remember his time line, but he said once the script was done its first draft they would like start some of the process with apple about getting it to directors etc and into the pre-production process, while still working on revisions of it the rest of this year

I’m eagerly anticipating the casting of Kelsier.
