Really good. One of the better sports movies I’ve seen in a while.

I’m in the middle of the book right now. The book is amazing so far. Highly recommend.

It’s very 2000s sports movie. And that was perfect. Wish we got movies like that every year. Just a fun, good movie that wasn’t too complicated and didn’t require any backstory or extended universe. Wish the majority of movies I saw every year were like that.
Really enjoyed it.

I did a search for “Boys in the Boat” didn’t see anything. Perhaps I searched incorrectly.

There was a thread saying it sucked recently. I like yours a lot better because I want it to be good.

I liked it and I also watched the documentary about that team because it had actual footage, etc.

No worries. I assumed it had been talked about and wanted to join in that thread, so I searched. It was weird to not see it, but yeah, I searched the whole title. Maybe that was the problem.

Anyway, I thought it was really good. Not sure why anyone wouldn’t like it. Reminded me of Miracle or Hoosiers, in a lot of ways. Haven’t seen a good sports movie like that in a while.

Wife and I both really liked it.

It was good enough that I will see the next George Clooney directed movie.

Those were hard men made by hard times.

I watched it. It felt the setbacks to overcome were overcome so easily and with little to no suspense.

Can’t afford college? Makes the rowing team easily
Can’t afford to go to Berlin? Basically do the movie equivalent of a car wash/bake sale and easily raise the funds
Starting in the worst course spot? Win anyway

Fat fingers give you an accidental downvote. I enjoyed the book so much I bought copies for all three of my nephews that play sports in the hopes they would find motivation to keep going through adversity.

Is this about the 2005 Minnesota Vikings?

Glory Road, Fighter, Remember the Titans, McFarland USA, Miracle Season, Money Ball, Greatest Game ever played, etc. are rare these days.

I read one review that said the women are so forward with their intentions in the movie that George Clooney clearly has no idea how women talk to the rest of us.

The book is phenomenal.. one of my all time favorites. I had no idea it was made into a movie until I randomly saw an ad and saw Clooney directed it… went and watched and loved it. Like others have said it has that early 00s sports motivational movie feel… I’ve been using Seabiscuit as an example when talking to people about it. The cinematography is beautiful, the acting and the adaptation was really well done. Obviously the book gets into more detail but I thought they told the true story and did it in an easy and fun way for the audience

But have you seen the Little Man in the Boat? I can't remember the year I first saw it, though it's on the tip of my tongue.

It was a 2 hour movie and they seemed to work really hard to get where they got. I’m not sure they really had time to delve into every setback deeply. But, not one of them solved the problems on their own. They worked together and problems were solved by a host of people. I get that it might have felt a bit rushed, but I kind of enjoyed that it was a 2 hour movie instead of a meandering 3 hour epic or 10 part limited series on Amazon or something. Sometimes, it’s just good for a movie to be a good story. I thought it accomplished that.
