This is great marketing but I feel like it's giving consumers unrealistic expectations. It already had big shoes to fill after the success of the first one. Now those expectations are even bigger. I'm trying to downplay this movie as much as I can because I feel like if I buy into the hype, I will be very disappointed.

Ron Burgundy wasn't the reason Anchorman was good. It was all the minor characters that were funny.

It seems like the goal is to make everyone completely sick of this shite before the movie evens premieres.

First anchorman a classic but all his apperences and commercials are getting annoying, not even funny, almost forced by the studio

pretty sure you feel how i felt when i first saw anchorman. there aren't many other popular characters who are so forced/fake

That's how i felt about Steve Carrell's character, he was too stupid that it became a drag to watch. I was somewhat excited before the marketing started now i just want it to be over.

I know its a dumb comedy but at some point it needs to be somewhat believable. Stupid is one thing but SC goes full retard. Jus

Will Ferrell is like Robin Williams and Jim Carrey. Funny in small doses, but too much of him grates on the nerves.

That's a fair and IMHO accurate analogy.

Anchorman was horrible. Its a shame that Anchorman is so popular and Step Brothers is pretty much ignored.

A lot of anchorman's following comes because of its repeatable quotes. I've heard a least some quote from the movie from quite a few people

-They've done studies you know. 60% of the time, it works every time
-I love lamp
-Loud noises
-I'm in a glass case of emotion
-Don't act like you're not impressed
-I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party
-What? You pooped in the refrigerator? And you ate the whole wheel of cheese? How’d you do that? Heck, I’m not even mad; that’s amazing
-It's so damn hot. Milk was a bad choice.
-I immediately regret this decision
-Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means ‘a whale’s vagina.’
-You are a smelly pirate hooker. Why don’t you go back to your home on Whore Island?

With that said, the second movie doesn't look to be as funny as the first

My SO is the same way. Her mom hates potty humor and even she laughs every time Ron Burgundy appears on the TV.

Or they actually have taste in comedy. Lot of the younger peeps seem to gravitate towards these 'comedians' that are mostly about physical comedy, toilet humor, and yelling/babbling. There's no real creativity or actual comedy writing involved.

This, and compared to most people on here, Will Ferrell is old. He just doesn't act his age.

I find Will Farrel very funny, but I have a huge appreciation for slapstick. I also am a huge fan of Mel Brooks, Billy Crystal, Rodney Dangerfield, Leslie Nielson, Don Rickles, John Cleese, ect.
