Anyone else a fan of HBO's Rome?

God I wish this series was not cancelled. At the time, the most expensive series ever created. Was supposed to be 5 seasons, but 3 seasons of material had to be condensed into Season 2. Was going to end around the time of the Nativity of Christ.
The portrayals of Caesar, Antony, Vorenus, Pullo, and more were amazing. The sets and costumes were damn near perfect. The only part I don't like is the lack of seeing full battles but I understand the series is more of the drama. It's definitely one of the best two seasons of television made in recent years.

A show that was ahead of its time. I love Rome and binge it once a year.

Yeah, I loved it. I don't think I caught Season 2, though.

My number 1 series I wish was not canceled. I can't re-watch because it makes me sad.

Cicero and Cato were awesome characters and their real life works are a great influence for conservatives.

One of the best series ever made. Shame the set was damaged in a fire so they had to condense seasons 2-4 into one season, but it was still great. Paved the way for other massive productions down the road.
Great blend of comedy and seriousness, and really develops the characters well.

I was going to say something similar. She had a nice, big pair for an older broad.

Season 1 was as good as anything ever filmed. I always thought Max Pirkis stole the show as young Octavian.
I do wish they had started the story earlier historically though. Marius and Sulla would have made for some great tv.

Huge fan; some of the best acting I've seen on a series.

I wish it could have gone longer just to eventually have Germanicus and his sons..

Show had some of the best acting in cable history - a lot of things they did very well.
Somewhat ironically, HBO learned what not to do (budget wise) with Rome so it made GoT possible.
I dig it - and wish it could have gone a full 4 or 5 season run - potentially a GOAT series if that had happened.

Wish we could’ve seen more lesbian sex between Octavia and Servilia.

Well at least Gmae of Thrones happened. Some of the directors and about 3 or 4 actors from the Rome series appear on Game of Thrones so this is like the dark ages for me after Rome. I wish they had more actors on Game of Thrones.
Indira Varma
Karl Johnson
Ciaran Hinds
Tobias Menzies
Other than that, Rome is an excellent series, almost like modern Shakespearean plays being brought to life on the TV. They were so young when making this show. They were all so good, I don't have a favorite they're all spectacular. Maybe Spartacus the tv show came close but Rome was definitely a pioneer for others.

Absolutely awesome series. Vorenus and Titus are so fricking bad-arse. One of my favorite scenes:
"Flavio's not coming."
And THE baddest-arse!:
"Thirteenth!"

A lot of us book readers were really hoping for Purefoy as Prince Oberyn but I've gotta say the Spanish guy was perfect. Still love Purefoy though.
