I always loved his show as a kid growing up when it came on after jay Leno and always had my door shut with the sound down so I could stay up and watch it. Since he moved to Los Angeles it doesn't feel the same to me but his show always kicked Dave letterman and jay leno's arse.

LA did give us the time Pierre Bernard wanted to buy female mannequins for a lamp.

Me.

The new one is ok, but Old Conan was the best late night show next to Carson.

NBC retained intellectual property rights over some of the material he created.

Also, Max Weinberg > Andy Richter

The bits they did where they inserted Robert Smigel's mouth into the faces of George W Bush, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Michael Jackson with him breaking the whole time was my favorite bit on late night.

They used to do that with trump too. Perfect time to bring that back for him!

I like some of the TBS bits. Do they still bring Minty the Candy Cane out at Christmas? That song has been stuck in my head for years.

His rapport with frequent guests is unparalleled in Late Night. Any time Paul Rudd, Norm MacDonald, or Timothy Olyphant is on, you know you're gonna laugh your arse off.

I like them both.

His remotes that he does for his TBS show are better than anything on his old show.

Something about the old Conan show just felt unrehearsed and natural.

I don't think there are any mainstream shows today that could pull off the masturbating bear or gaseous wiener.

Or a romantic video of Max making love to his mirror image

Will Ferrell and Bill Burr are solid with him as well. His show is really the only one Burr can go on these days and for the audience to get his jokes and not be appalled.

There's some great old Howard Stern interviews from Conan's early days floating around the internet. In one from 1993, just months after the show premiered he basically said he and the staff were on week to week type contracts.

The ratings were terrible and Letterman 's shadow still swamped that show. But nbc stuck it out and created one of the most bizarre quirky and great talk shows ever.

His guests were always terrible, unless it was some bad boy era SNL star he previously worked with like Sandler, Farley, Norm, etc.

Leno was such a bore but had gigantic guests and as a kid Tom Snyder and Bob Costas doing long form interviews with no audience was not for me (of course now those shows are incredible to watch and I'd wish they'd come back)

But Conan was just made for the Generation Y kids. It was juvenile stupid, and creative but still very entertaining.

Its a shame how far Conan has fallen since the early days. He's on the same path as Letterman.

does anyone remember he did several shows back in the day when there was no power or something going on so it was just him, the band no audience and using generator power. It was the top for me.

He also did some shows during writers strikes or something and that was really great too.

I liked recent skit he did with the smart teddy bear, that was classic conan to me.
