How'd you go about it? Where did you learn how to put in the right format?

I've got a life experience that was just so preposterous and random it's a great premise for a film. I'd have to figure out an ending b/c irl we all went our separate ways but I'd like to flesh it out in my spare time and not spend so much time on TD, I need to do something stimulating and productive.

Read the book Adventures In The Screen Trade by William Goldman (author of Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid)

Then read Story by Robert McKee

If you are truly serious about it, get yourself a copy of Final Draft.

I took two screenwriting classes at LSU. Mr. Blackwell was the instructor. First semester was the first half of a screen play, 60 pages approx and the second was the last 60 pages. That was years ago but I'm sure they still have those classes.

Writing one now. I will send it to some of yall once i finish. Make sure you get Final Draft to write if you do indeed write one. Makes it a breeze, but it's really expensive if you don't torrent it. several hundred dollars. For the past few weeks, I've thought about where I will take my story almost nonstop. It's very infectious. I'm pretty sure you know good movies (unless I'm mixing you up with another poster) so let me know if you want to exchange once you finish. we can give tips and advice and shite

in regards to formatting, I just read a ton of screenplays from good writers/directors and figured it out from there. apparently there is no established standard in hollywood, so you just have to have the basic sluglines/scene headings, capitalizations, and indentations, etc. you can really make it your own.

I know this guy who doesnt write scripts...but does the "synopsis"..its like so many pages, etc.. Basically sells off the ideas for like 10 grand out in LA.. He said he doesnt want to take the time writing real scripts so he would rather just sell of his ideas for the quick buck (not a bad buck..)

Now there is a 35% chance he's full of shite. (Madden reference) But just saying.
