There would definitely need to be some clarity. Are we talking righteous hatred for a character? Or ironic hatred?

If the latter, Jar Jar is definitely a strong contender.

The latter would also be more fun, although both versions would be interesting.

Thanks for the Tournament!

I enjoy it, glad others do too.

Boy this would be a fun one and very controversial. I can see some arguments getting rough here.

I think so. One page in and there's already been like 6 names mentioned that should definitely win.

i'd actually like to nominate best romcom.

i was watching morning glory the other day and thought, man this isn't a bad one. it could make it high up a best of list.

i also think the shite talking that could come from a male dominated board ranking romcoms would be comedy gold.

regarding the Winner, justice was served. not the justice that predator deserved, but still justice.

Let me know what you think.

Kinda like this one. Sort of encompasses villains, douches, assholes, bitches, etc. That'll make for an interesting tourney for sure.

Though I couldn't come close to naming 64 of them, a tournament with most liked villians/bad guys would be interesting as well.
We could get something like this:
Shooter McGavin vs Joker

or

Top Lines:

"Nobody puts baby in the corner" vs "I love the smell of Napalm in the morning.

Imagine Joffrey vs Draco Malfoy.
We would need to decide whether TV characters qualify.

two weeks notice
hitch
you've got mail
crazy rich asians
how to lose a guy in 10 days
forgetting sarah marshall
notting hill
morning glory
40 year old virgin
philadelphia story
american pie
16 candles
crazy stupid love
coming to america
sleepless in seattle
guess who's coming over for dinner
clueless

i find the idea of us arguing over why somebody picked 16 candles over 40 year old virgin to be novel. hilarity would ensue.

Joffrey wasn't in a movie.

Also, I am surprised Die hard won this over T2. I checked the first few pages of that thread and it seemed like T2 was ahead big. I guess DH made a run toward the end.

I think T2 should've beaten it, but it's hard to argue against Die Hard though. It's deserving.

I vote no for this.

But Crazy, Stupid Love should win though.

CSL, Philadelphia Story, and you've got mail are probably my top 3.

The culmination scene of Cal finding out Gossling's character is dating his daughter, Cal's friend finding the nude photos of his daughter with his name on it, and David Lindhagen showing up to return something to Juliane Moore in CSL is one of my favorite in movie history.
