Just found out it started back. Watching Sunday’s episode right now. I heard there are some good southerners that make it. Anybody know them?

I only like watching that show to see the bad people even though that I know most are plants.

This is a show I DVR.. you can breeze through the nonsense and commercials and it makes it about 45 minutes instead of 2 hours ..

talent is definitely there this year.

The judges aren’t very harsh so far. And I doubt they will be .

Singing competitions and award ceremonies are what DVRs are best at.

Wife and I breeze through them in a third of the time

Was going to start this thread

Just caught first episode. So far wife and I are pulling for the girl that did the national anthem when she was a kid. Can’t believe how awful the media was to her. She was just a kid??? Would be awesome for her to get redemption on Idol.

Two best performers though were the fat guy from Arkansas that played the piano and the young Indian girl that lives with her dad.

Both of those performances were outstanding.

Really liking the judges so far. Good chemistry and they all seem to give well thought out advice. Seems like a good panel.

But why does Lionel Richie stand up every time he is giving a serious piece of advice

So pumped to have Idol back. Forgot how much we missed it

I'm undecided. They aren't very technical and give general advice, imo

I liked Harry Connick Jr because he really knew his stuff and gave real music advice

The Andrew Weaver kid is from my town. Same grade as my daughter. I think he gets bounced real quick in Hollywood. I have seen him perform the same two Ed Sheeran songs at school award ceremonies and recital intermissions for 2 straight years. Seen is at least 5 times. Told my wife and daughter the odds were 100% he would play them in auditions. He did. Kids talented but I am not sure he has anything to bring off the bench when he is forced out of his 2 song Ed Sheeran comfort zone. He was the least talented vocalist of all the ones who got a gold ticket. We will see.

I liked the Livingston kid but I think Bossier guy is better. I hate his eyebrow movements though.

Indian girl is fave girl hands down. Also loved the big boy from arky. The guy Karie was crushing on is good but not good enough to win.

The judges have a good and funny vibe. I like these three together a lot.

Caught second ep last night.

Not to be a homer, but Laine could actually make some noise in this. Has a very unique sound and is obviously a great guitar player.

I’m thinking he’s not quite as shy as he was trying to build up in that interview though. After he got his golden ticket and was walking out he was like that’s not how you shake hands baw

Dude knows how good he is for sure and is a straight up diva. Will be interesting to see if he’s willing to learn or is too cocky to make it through Hollywood week.

He’s got the talent, just hope he buys in to the process and goes in humble and ready to get better.

Just finished most recent episode.

Wife and I were both a lil choked up from that adopted Bama guy’s story. Really well written and emotional song too. Will be rooting for him to do well.

Any of you Bama posters know that ol baw?? Buy him a drink if you see him

Agreed, was bummed to see there was another week of auditions.

Thought that foster kid that adopted his sisters baby would have been a nice story to end auditions on

I went in to check on the kid and saw a couple minutes and whatever was on was absolutely awful. I have no clue how those people made it to Hollywood.

From the little that I've seen of Katy Perry on the show, I have a new respect for her. She really goes out of her way to make the contestants feel comfortable and she makes their day. It may all be for the cameras, but the fans seem to love it.
