It took this long? Shooting up his high school did it for me.
I went with the angle of him being a schizophrenic for a very long time. It wasn't until two or three episodes ago that i dropped that belief.

He also grew up in a house infested with evil. Might have had a little to do with it.

Constance came to him on at least two occasions when he was sleepwalking and told him "Now is not the time." Definitely something to that
I keep waiting for that to come back up. However, I wonder if that was just something the writers put in the show before they knew what the hell they were doing.

She's the only one who knows everything and has not been killed other than Dr. Harmon. (Or so we think. lol)
She knows more than others, but if she knew 'everything' she wouldn't need the medium. I think her knowledge comes from past experiences. she does seem to have some control over the ghosts. But I think the that is b/c of 2 reasons: 1- the ghosts will always need outside help from the living 2- they are scared to kill her b/c she would wreak havoc if she was on equal footing as the other ghosts.

Do you think that maybe he did that so he would be in the house forever? After last night we known he had a knowledge of the ghosts in the house from a very young age, and also knew how could tell them to "go away"

She knows a lot more than has been let on. She must know why the house is the way it is.
I think she also has a very keen interest in religion/occult.
Constance's painting from Spooky Little Girl:

Same artist FTW

no doubt. i am just saying i think she knows whats up b/c she has been around so long. She's been living in the house or next door to it since at least 1978-ish

Tate is a demon.
Certainly a bad spirit now. But I would think that demons don't live among the living as Tate did until he got pumped full of lead. Also, if he was born of "spirit and flesh" (if Constance had gotten knocked up by a spirit/demon/devil in the house), we would already have the Antichrist figure that this show is leading up to. Doesn't make sense for the narrative.

I've always said that I would never consider suicide regardless of the situation. However, in Dr. Harmon's situation I may reconsider. His daughter is dead, and as far as they know is stuck there forever. The house is full of other ghosts that are both hot and horny. Of course his wife is there also now, but the commitment was only "til death do us part".

Another thing is that if he doesn't die also, he's got a lot of 'splainin' to do. May as well die there rather than in prison or the electric chair.

"Well officer, I thought Vivian was in the perfectly capable hands of a physician that died in this house decades ago...beats me how she died during childbirth."

How do you think they explain Thaddeus aging?

1) That he was actually reanimated and actually lives in the basement - remember...Thaddeus was not killed in the house.
or
2) Artistic license

Remember the thing that killed the ginger twins back in '78 (I think) - it was more baby-like...could be a "younger" Thaddeus.

Do we know this for sure? He could have been killed in the house and then dismembered off the property.
