re: America has spoken. They would rather watch a Rerun of BBT instead of Community

"It's okay. I'm sort of their messiah."
I think that while these weren't the three best episodes of the show, it was a perfect encapsulation of the show in one night. All of the episodes were solid and screw y'all, the video game one had me laughing so hard I thought I was gonna die. The black caverns had them riding red Kool Aid and getting attacked by jive turkeys. I can't believe they got away with that.
A high concept episode (turn them into 8-bit characters), a movie parody (heist movies), and then a "standard" episode with real emotional stakes. That's what they do. In fact, what makes the high concept episodes work is not just how bizarre it is, but how it is rooted in character (Abed falling in love with Hilda, for example) and how it worked to an honest emotional payoff for the guest star. the resolution gave Chevy a good dramatic moment as well, undercut by his final lines ("Is mullato okay?")
I do agree with Coco on the Chang storyline. I've never been a fan, so I'm glad that it's wrapped up. The heist was funny but the Changlorious Bastards was way too over the top, even for Community. However, the episode was saved by the Dean being super awesome ("that's what Deans do") and the culmination of the AC school storyline. It's really about Troy becoming a man, and him accepting adult responsibility is a huge ste, even if it eventually means he will leave the childish Abed behind. Troy has grown as a character and is becoming a man. In fact, you can read a lot of the show as Troy's growth from child to man.
Next season, he must bring balance to the Force between plumbers and AC repairmen....

was it the AC that wanted him in season one when they did the good will hunting episode?
I don't know, but I didn't think Goodman was in season one. But a lot of the older episodes kinda run together for me, so I can't place the season sometimes. Actually, a quick search shows that John Goodman didn't show up until the first episode of season three (realy??).
Also, looking at a review of the Good Will Hunting episode (called "English as a Second language"), it wasn't A/C shite with Troy...it was plumbing.

I agree with that, though I still don't see them "breaking up" Troy and Abed. They'll always be friends (even if not roommates at some point).
It was awesome last night when Troy came back and was like "There you are..." and Britta steps back to receive the hug and Troy runs to Abed.

They won't break them up, but they have to drift apart. If you'll note, Troy is moving into the room formerly known as the Dreamatorium. Tearing that down was actually pretty sad for me.

I was never a huge Dreamatorium fan. I liked it at first, but then it just kinda ungrew on me.

I love the Dreamatorium. Such a fun way for the show to flew their creative muscles w/ Troy and Abed being so strange.

Why? Isn't the show bout to end?

Somehow I missed the video game ep, but caught the other 2 and loved them. Great episodes.
Eta: as far as the end though, the 6 seasons thing is simply wishful thinking right? This just finished the 3rd season and as we know the ratings were just barely treading water any way. Wasn't it almost/kinda sorta canceled at one point? Are they really planning on 3 more seasons or is that just optimism on Community's part?
also, if there really are 6 seasons surely the gang all still won't be in community college at that point

Only saw the video game episode, but it was great. I love that Troy's character kept jump flipping and Pierce Leo doing the Super Mario head tuck thing. I laughed at pretty much all the 8 bit characters all episode. I don't really even know what the episode was about.

#sixseasonsandamovie is the hashtag created by Abed to protest the cancellation of The Cape.

Did you guys hear the baby at the very end say "cool cool cool"?
Posted on 5/18/12 at 9:07 am to The Sad Banana
that shite was adorable.

Annie accidentally killing the shopkeeper followed up by Shirley going upstairs to murder the rest of the family was hysterical. I loved pretty much everything in the village, but Shirley going up the steps is about the moment I lost my shite.

Second time I've seen this posted. It's "cool cool cool," not "good good goood," unless I missed something. But Abed definitely always says cool (which is why Evil Abed said "warm warm warm" a few episodes back

And "cruel cruel cruel" this episode before going to saw off Jeff Winger's arm. BTW - you could write a thesis on Abed's POV for season 3. Essentially, a good portion of it was his delusion. Everything that happened between him and Evil abed was him talking to himself, and having a psychotic break from reality.

The Nintendo-ish episode was great. Off the top of my head..
Lazy Valley full of tacos.
Gay Island.
White Crystal/Black Cave racism.
Jive turkeys.
Kool-aid.
3/5 Compromise.
Troy jumping higher than everyone.
Abed falling in love.
Annie and Shirley's murderous rage.
Britta's fricked up potion.
Jeff and Britta in that house in general was funny.
Pierce running into the wall over and over.
Pierce getting buried and losing oxygen, then burying himself intentionally.
Also, in the middle episode, Britta as a goth doll was weirdly hot.

Absolutely. Abed is an incredibly deep character for a show like this (or a sitcom in general). Perfect example is when Abed was falling for the computer chick, and they were like "Abed, she's a computer robot programmed to say certain things" (or something like that) and Abed responds with "Similar things have been said about me.." as his justification. That's funny on the surface, but actually is pretty telling about his character on the show.
