I miss the Palace. When Rave has the theaters in BR they were good.

AMC has really done better since they went on assign seating model and upgraded the screens and sound systems.

I wonder how much of this has to do with the shite Hollywood has put out over the last 2-4 years outside of your major blockbusters?

I see a decent amount in theaters and I've rarely had any issues at all with that kind of stuff. Granted I also rarely see a blockbuster type movie on a friday or saturday night

I never see blockbusters or go Friday/Saturday either but it never fails, someone's always texting or two people sit RIGHT next to me or behind me and whisper throughout the movie.

The AMC closest to me is nice, but it’s connected to a mall full of wannabe gangsters and punks so nobody really goes there. it’s been well over two years since we have been to the AMC by us. The theater we were in had popcorn and shite all over the floor, it was trashed as was the foyer of the theater, the concession stand employees had the IQ of a dead cricket, and most of the other employees were on their phones.....all on a Saturday night. I think I even started a thread about this and posted some pictures, let me see if I can find it.

I can wait a month to see a movie. Haven't set foot in a theater in years.

maybe arthouse theaters with better food and drinks need to make a comeback.

show cult, comedy, action, drama etc classics with a audience engagement.

f you're a family of four it's a much better deal than going to the movie theater. Think about it...you're paying roughly $9 a ticket and that adds up to almost $40 just to get your seats. We haven't even started on concessions yet. You add that in and you're paying about $80 just to go to a movie on a Friday night

How does that compare to going out bowling? Mini golf? Baseball/basketball/hockey game?

$40 can get a family of 4 into a movie. Are you going to do the other 4 at that price point or lower? And concessions are completely optional. Eat before the movie. Eat after. I see 40-50 movies in theaters in a typical year. I purchase concessions for less than half of those movies. Even when I purchase concessions it’s because I had a free small popcorn and just wanted a drink with it or had points nearing expiration.

Concessions aren’t expensive, you just lack the self control not to buy them.

I never understood the “need” to buy concessions in a movie theater, unless you’re a little kid

Go to a pro game, a concert, any arena event... you pay through the nose for concessions. Not sure why people continuously freak out because theaters are “suddenly” overcharging for this stuff.
