The Montgomery capital area used to have 7 multiplexes. Now they're down to 3. Theaters aren't dead, but the theater business is certainly in steep decline.

I went to the theater with my son yesterday for the first time in 10 years. I didn't even go to see the movie. Just to spend time with my son. It was 20 dollars for a large popcorn and soda. As long as that's the norm, you can continue to wave "bye!" at theaters.

Do you need a large soda and popcorn to sit through a movie?

Yeah movies and concessions should still cost $15 for a family of four. Thats what it was when I was growing up forty years ago and I don’t like it when things change. It makes me angry and I refuse to accept it so I don’t go to movies.

I also don’t go to restaurants because a burger and a beer is $20 now instead of $11. As a matter of principle I just refuse to do anything that costs money because everything should be cheaper in my mind.

That's your prerogative. Went and saw Hail Mary Project a few weeks ago - $16 ticket for noon showing (there were 5 people in the theater), a $7 20 oz IPA, free parking for 4 hours, helps that a super rich person owns the theater, a brewery across the tracks, a small boutique theater in town, and is super rich. People spend money on what they want for entertainment, not what they think they should pay.
