CSB time… a friend of mine used to be tour manager for Nick Jonas. He said they were on the bus somewhere in the Midwest on a leg, and they make a stop to take a piss and what not. When they got back on the bus, Kate Hudson hopped on with them and banged it out for a few weeks with the Jonas brother. She stayed on for a few cities with them and eventually hopped off and disappeared just like she had arrived.
Penny Lane was Kate Hudson and Kate Hudson was Penny Lane.
That is a wild story!
Yeah this movie is one of the best and its so tightly put together that every scene is great.

You CANNOT make friends with the rock stars. That's what's important. If you're a rock journalist - first, you will never get paid much. But you will get free records from the record company. And they'll buy you drinks, you'll meet girls, they'll try to fly you places for free, offer you drugs... I know. It sounds great. But they are not your friends. These are people who want you to write sanctimonious stories about the genius of the rock stars, and they will ruin rock and roll and strangle everything we love about it.
Man, PSH left this earth much too soon.

Anyone a fan of Pirate Radio (The Boat that Rocked)? Hoffman, Bill NIghy, Nick Frost, Emma Thompson. It's not quite to the level of Almost Famous, but a cool look back at a very strange time in Rock N Roll.
I need to give that one a rewatch. Good movie.

If you think Mick Jagger will still be out there trying to be a rock star at age fifty, then you are sadly, sadly mistaken.

I’d never heard “Mona Lisa’s and mad hatters” until watching this movie and it’s now one of my favorite songs of all time

I saw that one in theaters.
Might have to revisit that one.

There's actually an extended cut called "untitled" that makes the movie that much better
If you buy the movie on AppleTV, it includes this cut. They call it the bootleg cut.

combination of groups. Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and The Brothers if I remember correctly.
The Allman Brothers were a big influence as well

Classic move. Been meaning to watch Almost Famous, Rockstar, and then Airheads in succession one weekend while believing they’re all in the same universe
Rockstar and Airheads aren’t even on the same playing field as Almost Famous but have a ton of rewatchability and Airheads is one of my favorite movies of all time

I feel like Vanilla Sky was also a very unappreciated work from CC.

it's in my top 10 movie list. I'll never ever pass up a chance to watch it.
PSH was fantastic. Great tunes and great story.

Thanks yall. Got up about 2AM because I don’t sleep a lot. Was on TD, just reading around, and came to this post. Never saw the movie.
Watched it this evening. Been a hoot! So many actors before they were famous, and such a good plot. Thanks for the recommendation!!

Chef, I was too busy raising kids and saving the world!!
Thankfully, the world saved its self and didn’t have to rely on me.

In a weird twist, I’ve been rewatching The Wire and read this and jumped over to watch Rock Star. Both with Dominic West
