Neither do I. I'm a Hodor and from the show he just seems like he does whatever red titty witch says.

i'm a hodor, but i've talked to several book readers who like stannis more in the books.
i think he's still stoic and crap but more of a badass maybe?
i dig him. i dig davos more.

Where do I begin?
1) He's the one, true king. The ONLY character with a rightful claim to the Iron Throne.
2) He would be a great ruler. He's wise and fair. He's strong and just. He's also surrounded by perhaps the wisest confidants in the show, and yes, that includes Melisandre, as she is the only one who has foreseen the battle with the WW that's coming.
3) Stannis the Mannis is the ONLY one who came to aid the Wall in it's greatest time of need. He knows who the true enemy in Westeros is, and he is positioning himself to a. Save the Wall/North and then b. Fight against the WW.
Stannis Baratheon should be everyone's favorite character and the one people view as the hero, but people don't like him because he's stoic and serious. Jump on the One, True King's Bandwagon before it's too late.

Dany has as much right to it as Robert had before him.

Knew someone would say this, but the fact is that the Targs were conquerors themselves and had no right to sit on an iron throne and rule all of Westeros either. They were overthrown by Robert, and he established a new ruling line. Thus, upon Robert's death, Stannis is the ONLY person who should rightfully sit on the throne.

he has as much right until Gendry gets legitimized

Sure, I guess? I mean, Robert has like a hundred bastards running around, so they would have a claim if they were legitimized, but none are, soooo...

Gendry is the oldest though and not seeing him since he set sail is going to come back into play IMO.

He just does whatever his advisors tell him to do. That doesn't make him anymore a leader than Tommen

Sounds like you want Mellisadre as the ruler, not stannis
Posted on 7/2/14 at 10:21 am to Byron Bojangles III
Oh yeah, I'm sure we haven't the last of Gendry. Until then though, we should all be rallying behind Stannis the Mannis.

You might know more than me because you read but I don't see the Gendry storyline coming back

However, recall that part of his claim is that he was of Targaryean blood, as well.

Gendry in the show is actually a composite character - so there is no way to tell, at this point, which way it is going to break.
