What about TDKR vs Avengers Age of Ultron

There will be a lot of fanboys cradling in denial by the end of tonight

The Dark Knight Rises gets worse with each viewing.

it's actually the opposite for me. I liked it more once it came out on DVD and watched it a couple more times.

TDKR is so much better than the avengers but why is that the comparison? What because they came out at the same time? The avengers and TDK is the better comparison

Age of Ultron and TDKR is appropriate because both movies had massive expectations. Ultron is shaping up to be a huge turd.

Full disclosure: I bumped this thread to enjoy fanboy banter, and watch the latest turd be defended vehemently by fanboys

will say this, every single film in The Dark Knight Trilogy can function, more or less, on its own. You don't really need to see Batman Begins before you watch The Dark Knight and you don't really need to watch the first two to understand The Dark Knight Rises. The Avengers on the other hand relies on the universe set up by the films that came before it. A person watching The Avengers before seeing the other MCU films that came before it will not be able to appreciate the movie fully. My parents were confused coming out of The Avengers because neither of them had seen any of the MCU films after the first Iron Man. Also the emotional spark of the movie, the death of Coulson, only resonates if you had seen the MCU films that came before it. Even then, when he died, despite the fact I had seen all of the movies, I really didn't care.

The Dark Knight Rises, for all its faults, is the better film. The Avengers might be more entertaining, but TDKR is better overall.

Except if you start w/TDKR you're going to wonder why the hell Batman is being such a baby about some random woman you've never even heard of instead of being a badass vigilante due to his parents murder. The Talia plot twist will emasculate Bane even more if you don't at least know who Ra's was.

it makes me feel like such a piece of shite, but the reviews for ultron pretty much all call it a turd, even the good ones...and that puts a grin on my face.

after reading on here for 2 years about how ultron will top the joker, this phase 2 will be really fleshed out characters and story...I just can't help but laugh that the new one is the same as the last one only more bloated and with less of what the fanboys were touting...I hope everyone enjoys it, I really do, but I also like to watch people resist reality...no it doesn't suck! it can't suck! you just hate marvel!

The Avengers was a fantastic movie and did what it did best, popcorn action. The Dark Knight Knight reinvented the wheel when it came to Batman. The character development in TDKR is second to none when it comes to comic book movies.

They should have just filmed an extra 40 minutes, flushed out a few of the themes and broke it into two a la harry potter.

I've always thought that, but then you have to take into account that when other franchises have split up the final movie (Harry Potter, Hunger Games), usually the Part. 1 becomes extremely forgettable. Knowing how we all love to pick apart superhero movies, splitting TDKR into two movies might not be the solution we all think it would be.

Still believe, despite what Nolan says publicly, that Ledger's death altered the plan for the third movie.

It absolutely did. From what I've read, the plan was for the movie to start with Joker's trial. Bane comes into play during the trial, does something similar to what he does in Rises, Joker is set free, and Catwoman is never in the movie.

These were both pretty bad movies plot wise. I will give Avengformers: Dark of the Moon the nod for having better acting.

I could see Bane freeing the Joker and them working together. After capturing Batman, The Joker runs wild over a Gotham being held hostage by Bane. The Joker then realizes Bane is actually going to blow up Gotham, the Joker goes "Hey, only I can blow up Gotham" and the two start fighting...or something like that.

Everyone has the right to their opinion, but I think the Avengers is a thousand times better than TDKR. I like TDKR amd may watch if its on TV but wont go out of my way to watch it. Avengers on the other hand I just find is such a fun movie I can watch it fairly often..

The only thing TDKR has one Avengers is cinematography. TDKR is a bad movie, plain and simple.
