If we as a society can’t figure out how to prop each other up and spread the wealth, then what’s going to happen to us? There’s that great Sigourney Weaver line to Paul Reiser where she says, “I don’t know which species is worse. At least they don’t frick each other over for a percentage.”

this just reads like one of those things where the director/showrunner talks about how the movie/show has this deeper meaning and then we watch the show and it really isn't there at all unless you really reach for it

Except that the show runner explicitly talks about the old movies being through the lens of the 70’s or 80’s. He wants the 2020’s lens of racism and inequality to be front and center. That quote can take on a different meaning depending on time period

a story revolving around corporations abusing their workers for gain and ultimately meeting their demise is a pretty basic story that has been done 1000 times and no one ever gets mad about it

I mean sure, but you know where this is going. You can doubt it, but it's a possibility, and a strong one.
It may not come to pass, but if it does, no one will have to reach for it.

the most obvious one was how Knives Out was supposed to be some critique of "Trump's America" and it was nothing of the sorts
