I think he's great in most things, and it seems that even the people that find him tiresome in his films really enjoy him in small doses in the films of others. I think that's why he was such a hit in Broadcast News. He was just as funny and depressing as he was in his own films, but it wasn't the entire focus of the film. But for me, I love watching him schlamel and schlamozel his way through two full hours of a movie.

he was great in Broadcast News. His scene where he has to sub in for the anchor and gets the flop sweats is one of the funniest scenes you will see.

If 10 percent of the things he says about Trump were true, I might cut him some slack.

But he’s a total TDS psychopath .

Stand By Me
The Sure Thing
Misery
A Few Good Men
When Harry Met Sally
This is Spinal Tap
The Princess Bride

Had a great run from '84-'92. Don't mind him talking about those movies.

Anything else and its all Meathead.

Watched last night. It was enjoyable. My biggest takeaway is something I already knew. He talked at length about how he started to understand his mother later in life. She was jealous when it came to his success because she was in show business and put it on pause to have kids. He describes it as if all people are like this and it's normal. No, she was just a selfish person. Most people in show business are. The only things they care about are fame and fortune. Our society is becoming more and more selfish. We need to not normalize it like it is just a trait everybody has. Good parents get more enjoyment from their kids' success than their own.

She was a Jewish mother who gave up opera and acting to raise her family. In those circumstances her actions were normal to the point of being a cliché.

You're basically saying that she wasn't normal unless she was in show business, which she was.

Albert Einstein, doc is decent but another pat on the back...select people claiming he's genius and grew up with him. Jonah Hill, huh? Wasn't he a superbad wanna-be zygote during Brooks popularity?

Sharon Stone...time has flied.

Lost in America is a treasure but don't love his stand-up.

Rob Reiner is mostly unobtrusive in this doc. But its a try hard paint by the numbers recap...with "fans" you don't really buy...especially when they cut to stand-up scenes.

The problem with all these pretentious liberal assholes like Brooks and Reiner are there now screaming about antisemitism. The institutions they sided with and praised have now turned on them and don’t want them. They always acted as if they were better and smarter and are now finding out they weren’t any better or smarter and we’re used by the institutions they supported. Unless they come out and turn against theses antisemitic male hating organization then frick them.

I'll be skipping this one. Not because of Reiner, it's just that I've never understood the ridiculous amount of respect Brooks gets for his performances.

Is he a good actor? Maybe, a long time ago. Lately he's done more voiceover work.

Is he some brilliant force of comedy? Not at all.

To me, he's the same as Garry Shandling - average comedian, but a really nice guy who treated everyone well and had a lot of famous friends.

Same here. I've never gotten Albert Brooks. I watched just because I love docs but it did remind me of the Garry Shandling doc in that it was basically saying if you don't cry laugh and think his bland delivery jokes are genius then you're an idiot. I thought maybe I've never seen enough of him to get it but they showed his legendary "routine" and I completely cringed
