AI Star Wars movies

Hmm, a couple downvotes and no replies

yeah, at the end of the day it's fan-fiction schlock; but it's also a proof of concept.

Less than a year ago, fan-films were people in costumes filming with iphones, and AI "videos" were usually still images with maybe some panning of the camera. Then you got some movement, maybe a couple seconds worth. Even producing something the length of a trailer was pushing the limits.
Now, this random guy is putting out 10-12 minute clips with some actual dialogue (faces moving correctly for that), with recognizable and distinct "actors". Yeah he masks some of that with a 1960's style (film grain, close ups etc). But he released the 2nd one 3 weeks after the first. Dude could conceivably complete a feature-length "movie" by the end of the year.

Just makes me wonder what, say, Lucasfilm with all their resources, and potentially obtaining the rights to use movie star likenesses, could achieve right now. Or what they may be able to do in a year, in 5 years.
Like some people have speculated, we're probably going to see real movies done like this soon, sooner than I'd have thought.

I doubt that we will have actual actors in movies in 5-10 years.

The downvotes are for the AI slop. I don’t mind using AI for jokes, essentially as an extension to memes or as a tool used sparingly in post-production, but using AI for a creative purpose whole-cloth rather than using actual humans feels unethical to me.

It's made ridiculous leaps and bounds, but I think the sweet spot for fanfiction is still using real actors when possible and AI for background activity, scenery, explosives, etc. There's still a wooden-ness to the AI characters and they always seem to look sweaty.

Been watching those fan made ai shorts for a while and they keep getting better and better. I have more faith in fans making SW content than Disney but that's not saying much.
