Actress Helen McCroy, wife of Damian Lewis, has died at age 52 of cancer

How awful. She’s been amazing in Peaky Blinders. Was great in Penny Dreadful. Had no idea she was battling cancer.

This sucks. I loved her as Aunt Pol, I don’t know how the show is going to replace her.

To be honest, and not to diminish her character or her as an actor or anything, they needed a bit of a change from that character arc. In the beginning she was the smartest person in the room usually and a huge domino mover. In later seasons she just kind of turns into a nagging aunt who goes completely against Tommy at every turn for weird reasons
I imagine they’ll have to pivot and turn her death into a mechanism for the incoming Tommy- Michael feud- or possibly the end of it

She was supposed to be quitting the family business at the end of season 5...I wonder if they didn’t know she was taking a Turn for the worse and were preparing for it

I think they are filming the new season like right now so they likely had an idea that this was atleast a possibility I’d guess. I doubt she was available for much filming if she was that close to the end but maybe she was roughing it and hiding it like Boseman was
