I'm kind of a movie snob myself so I know when someone doesn't have Shawshank in their top five, I'm about to hunker down listening to horseshite hipster movies.

I've seen all movies. All of them. Everything from Citizen Kane to the stuff you clear from the history of your web browser.

Shawshank is #1 IMO. But asking opinions about #1 movie on a forum, you're not going to get everyone to agree. People come from different backgrounds, have different education, age, experiences.
It's just like saying #1 flavor of ice cream. Some will say vanilla, some will say rocky road. And like politics and religion, people have their minds made up.

This. Glad im not the only one that feels this way, and I really liked the Departed.
I feel like the love for it was more of a "lifetime achievement" for Scorsese than anything else.
And really movie snobs, there's nothing wrong with having Shawshank as your #1. Some people like Filet, some people like bone in ribeye. You cant go wrong with either choice.
