There has to be a lot of stuff left out, likely because they relied on the mother for a lot of background info due to her book/speaking series.

1. They only let slip that the family were Mormons once. The FBI agent said B was a "member of their LDS church" which set off major alarms for me. Mormons now are pretty crazy. Mormons in the 70s were even crazier. The unlicensed therapist who encouraged B to sleep with the girl HAD to be a member of the church, had to be.

2. I think the Dad has to actually be gay and had probably talked about it with B before, as close friends. No way in hell does anyone, even a sociopath, just randomly ask another guy to jerk them off without thinking they have a shot. It was the 70s in Utah, dude could have pulled out a gun and shot him for that.

3. They kept trying to paint the mom as a victim but frick that. She fits every stereotype of the trashy, inhumane women that let their boyfriends molest their daughters. They use the daughter as a way to draw the man back to them and project their own feelings onto the little girls. Sending a 13 year old on a plane to her rapist (that you were in love with and carried on a yearlong affair with) because you don't know how to parent her is some of the sickest shite I've ever heard.

This, everything can be explained except the letting him sleep next to your daughter with the tapes and the sending your daughter to the lions den.

It's been a week and I'm still shaking my head this guy only spent a year in prison.

I watched this 2 nights ago and had to bump this thread to tell you I have laughed at that meme all day today

What got me is that they mentioned how they noticed B took more of a liking to Jan that the other 2 daughters, but didn't think anything about it. I know it was the 70s and people were not as aware about certain things as we are today, but to allow your male neighbor to take one of your three daughters on a trip should have not been allowed at all.

And then they waited 5 days before calling the police. I think it was mentioned that they didn't want to call before then was because they didn't want to upset B's wife or something..

What about B calling Jan's mom and asked her to bring him something to eat at work?

Yeah, she really wasn't at all ashamed when she talked about how it excited her.

The first time, she says they just kissed and some touching, but they eventually had sex (after the first time he took the daughter, which is insane)... But yeah I agree with one of the post above, there has to be more to the story than what was told.
