My gal started watching it years ago, when it first came out and it drove me out of my mind having to sit through that shite. But over time I came to appreciate the pure genius of it and how it was so perfectly made for women and women alone. That show wanted nothing to do with men.

Everything about it was geared toward the psyche of a woman and the most captivating piece of it was so maddening to me until I came to understand it. And once I understood, I saw the light and began to feel the power of it as well.

The constant, unyielding, unstoppable, no breaks, no breaths dialogue. I mean those bitches never stopped talking. No pauses, no moment of thought or contemplation, no introspection. Just a torrent of fricking yammering and you know what. It wasn't at all abrasive.

Such a brilliant and perfect understanding of women. Constant talking about life, love, men, boys and Moms.

It was as though the dialogue was some sort of female tuning fork or sound frequency that only women can feel but what I found is men can feel it too if they're patient.

The tone, tenor and especially the cadence of the dialogue seemed to be a language within a language. A hum, if you will that women find soothing in ways they don't even realize.

Well I came to find it soothing as well. I came to love the show and I have no shame in admitting that I've seen every episode.

If you haven't, sit down and watch Gilmore Girls with your wife or girlfriend. She'll appreciate it very much and along the way, you'll learn alot about her.

My wife watched this a few years back and I hated it.

Why?

Not ashamed to admit I’ve seen every episode. My mom, sister and every girl i was with between high school and college loved it. (I watched the shite out tOC too)

Seasons 2-3 are the GOAT. Season 7 sucked. 5 and 6 aren’t bad but Logan

Jess is the GOAT

It really is a good show. The dialogue and pop culture references were unique at the time. You see it in Marvelous Mrs. Maisel too. Amy Sherman Palladino can write.

Gilmore Girls is a good show driven by the supporting cast and one of the best modern sets.

It's utterly mesmerizing. I was looking for the perfect word earlier and that's it.

You do your best work Kafka when you're not on the meme thread. I mean that.

I understand your feelings. Until I made peace with it, this show stirred extreme ambivalence in me as well.

Yep, Lorelai for the entirety of the show and Rory from season 4 on were terrible people who didn't deserve happiness.

But the supporting cast and even the bit players were written so brilliantly.

Lorelai and Rory were the heartbeat of the show.

Yes, the supporting cast was great. Sebastian Bach (of all people) and the korean mom for instance stick out in my mind but Lorelai and Rory. Well they were the very reason women watched that show and they became the reason I watched it.

Their dialogue was hypnotic at times.
