The rest of the shots from the previews look incredible. You can tell they wanted to capture that "live music" feel and it look slime they did.
Thats exactly what I thought watching it. It looks like a rock documentary.

Dude, its the 3rd time this story has been told. Its not that amazing! And the box office will demonstrate that
Those 'gushing' over it, are most definitely being flamboyant. I mean how many time have they told the Batman story? The next one wont be 'so amazing' either, get it?

It's actually the 4th time but that's the beside the point. This is, by far, the best reviewed of the 4. Universally acclaimed. Noone expects it to beat Venom at the box office, as pea-brains such as yourself need something to watch, too. And as bad as it appears to be, it's still an MCU movie which always open well. However, I do expect ASIB to outperform the 25-30mil opening weekend predictions.

This movie is going to have crazy, My Big Fat Greek Wedding legs at the theaters.
Women will keep it on the screen through Christmas.

that's my gut feel too, it's gonna have staying power via word of mouth and the RT effect

every Batman movies makes bank, despite it being the same story
hell, all of Marvels movies are the same basic story and they all make obscene amounts of money
what is your point?

It has been 42 years since the last one. It isn't like they're popping them out every year like they are the Batman and other comic movies.

do you know how many people have not been exposed to the original or following remake?

will have a 40M + opening easily and instantly jump to oscar contention.
My prediction at least.

Current box office estimations are saying it might not even do $30 million this weekend.
While I have no doubt A Star is Born will do more critically, commercially the musical box office is going to be owned by Bohemian Rhapsody.

I don't think this is your typical musical. They aren't breaking out into song and dance mid-dialogue. I think the real intangible here is Lady Gaga's massive fan base and what kind of numbers they will drive.

Something more like Walk The Line or Crazy Heart? That’s what it strikes me as looking at the previews. Looking forward to seeing it.

I just saw it in Dolby.
My goodness, what a fantastic movie on all levels.
When Jackson brings Ally on to the stage for the first time and she hits the chorus, I got goosebumps and the hair stood up on my arms.
That hasn't happened to me in a theatre since 1993 when the jeep pulls up on the dinosaurs at the lake in Jurassic Park.

It's not The Godfather or Citizen Kane, but it's a great film. Not 100% from start to finish, but the moments that they want to hit you with... they floor you.
Gaga is a very good actress, until she sings, and then she's an amazing actress. She gets more emotion across in one song than most actors can in an entire film. Jesus.
Cooper delivers. He didn't frick around with this one.
The supporting cast is top notch. Sam Elliot and Andrew Dice Clay are money from start to finish. Both have amazing screen presence. Not sure what Dave Chappelle was there for. He was the only null factor in the film.
It'll sweep Oscar nominations and take home a win for at least one of the songs.
You won't be disappointed.

I'll probably use a free ticket to see a star is born at some point before October is over but I have no interest in bohemian rhapsody. No interest in Rocketman either.

That's fine. It's only the second most anticipated movie of the fall behind Fantastic Beasts.

Martini was right about how well she acts while singing.
She was able to portray the fear, disbelief and pure ecstasy of that moment while still managing to sing a perfect vocal.
When she hits the high note and covers her eyes with her hands I damn near cried.
Here is a clip, but I reccomend not watching if you haven't seen the movie yet as it'll dampen the power of the moment.
