When collectibles were exploding in price during the pandemic I was trying to pick the brain of a colleague who has five kids. I wanted to find things that were popular with kids to resell in 20 years. Only thing he told me was they were really into Minecraft. So I'm not surprised this movie is doing well.

Also looking pretty smart to put the long Superman trailer in front of every screening now

McDonald's apparently has both kids and adult happy meals with collectible Minecraft stuff for adults in their meals lol

Took my son and his friend on Saturday.

The movie itself was fine, but the theatre was full of middle/high school aged kids and was awful. The axe body spray on the row in front of us was so overwhelming I could barely taste the popcorn.

The crowd cheered and applauded anytime anything happened in the movie and chanted a lot of the lines.

This was how the theater was when we went on Friday. Kids repeating some of the lines from the trailer, and some cheering, but not too crazy

But some of the showings are getting too rowdy for the theater's liking

None of that means anything to me. Does that mean we’re old now

Yes. Very.

Me neither. After the movie I asked the kids if the lines they were reciting were from the game.

"No its from the trailer."

The lines from the trailer became memes before the movie came out apparently.

I guess the fervor around this movie is similar to the Minions movie where kids were dressed in suits and throwing bananas at the screen.

any influencer that videos themselves or takes pictures to promote this kind of attention deserves bullying and much worse in today's society.

but funny AF how it's obliterating Snow White.

I don’t think there was a world where it wouldn’t have. Minecraft is far more popular than Snow White in 2025.

And if you're talking about the allay or some such, which I kinda doubt, those were introduced after I stopped playing.

Again, has zero to do with the conversation anyone (except you) were having about this movie.

Reason 1000 why these people will never admit they are wrong. Nothing will ever change.

Doesn't matter. Snow White has a built in audience to have done far better than bomb at the box office. See Cinderella. See Mufasa. Both 'live action', as it were, both raked in big numbers. But not Snow White.

And everyone knows why.
