You would be shocked. I have a buddy that works for State Police that is involved in all of the sex trafficking cases in and around Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge is apparently a hub for fricked up shite like this with young girls being forced into prostitution, drugs, and porn against their will.

A little off topic, but didn't this movie due rather poorly at the box office when it came out? I thought I remembered something like that but I was only 15 when it came out so I could be wrong.

I really couldn't say. This movie came out during my freshman year of college. Everything is a little hazy.

there was a big bust last week in Houston where a Mexican dance club on telephone road had an upstairs whorehouse with girls aged 14 on up were held captive there and forced into sex slavery

Saw it in the theatre, I had never just walked out of a movie, but this one just made me uncomfortable. It really got to me.

It came out around the holidays and not many people want to see something dark like this at that time. Solid movie though.

My buddy has seen so much terrible shite that he says he hopes he never has any daughters as a result.

I was shocked when he called that girl's mom so he could get up the courage to go back in and waste Gandolfini.

Really good movie.

One of the more sinister movies I've seen. Similar in premise Paul Schrader's 1979 movie Hardcore staring George C. Scott but 8MM takes it to a whole other level.

I want to say that part of the marketing plan was to advertise the snuff film in the movie as being real footage. Similar to how some of those horror movies will say "Based on a true story with real football from the documentary yada yada."

My parents were very lenient on what movies I was allowed to see, but they were adamant about this one being forbidden. Saw it anyway.

BTW, 8MM made $96 million worldwide in theaters (against a $40MM budget). I think it only made like $36MM domestically, but it's not like it was some huge bust or anything like that.

I remember seeing 8mm in theaters and I don't think it was marketed that way. You are confusing it with blair with project.
