Closest to an objective top 5:

The Lion King- Mentioned by most in this thread, the music and story fit seamlessly and propel this to an unquestionable top 5 spot.

Beauty and the Beast- a splendidly animated love story with more great songs characters puts this one right there with Lion King

Aladdin- Disney's sexiest princess and Robin Williams' genie put the tale of Aladdin in this list, along with, yet again, great music.

Toy Story- The first ever feature-length CGI film, it's the story that captured imagination and set off one of the greatest film trilogies ever.

Finding Nemo- A coming of age story and an epic journey perfectly balanced with humor and emotion set against beautiful ocean backdrops make this one of PIXAR, and Disney's, best.

Honorable Mentions:

Little Mermaid/Mulan: Both great stories with strong soundtracks and characters. Could go in Aladdin's spot.

Mary Poppins/Pirates of the Caribbean: Two of Disney's best live-action films could make the list.

Snow White/Pinnochio: I tend to lean more towards the Disney Renaissance, but these classics set the stage for Disney's success and are beloved by many.

In order

Sleeping Beauty - the best animated movie ever made

Beauty and the Beast - the best movie Disney made since sleeping beauty. Astonishing animation, great characters and voices. Emotional weight to it that none of their movies ever really had (though lion king accomplished this in a cheap "bambi" way

Snow White - after nearly bankrupting himself to make 3 little pigs, he did the same for snow white (and every subsequent film through sleeping beauty) It's still high quality animation and better looking than the Disney animated movies from the 60s through the 80s (not counting mermaid)

Aladdin - probably the most solid all around movie. Robin Williams was just a perfect choice for genie


Pinocchio - kind of frightening, and easily the best musical number of all the Disney animated films that kind of became their company theme.

ETA: they're all animated because that's what Disney does best...or did best. I don't know, I don't like computer animation. I like it as a supplement to excellent traditional animation (take beauty and the beast)

I've always wanted to watch Song of the South but its impossible to find.

I bought it on DVD from Amazon several years ago. It was from overseas (since it was released outside of the US in a lot of areas). It did cost a lot though (IIRC, around 30 or 40 bucks). But it's one that I'm glad I have.

Yeah.. think my bias comes from something deep rooted in my subconscious.. To this day when going to Disney World, my first ride I ride is PotC...It's always been tat way

I already did before I made that last post (I was gonna link it for you). But if I found it at one point, I'm sure you'll be able to find it eventually. Just expect to pay a bit more for it if you do find it.

For example, this link seems to have it for $9, but I don't know how legitimate it is. And it looks like they just master copied it onto the DVD format. I can't remember if that's basically what mine is as well, but it was a DVD and played on my player, and the quality wasn't too bad either.
