I have a problem with pump shotguns in movies. It always seems like they are pointing the gun at someone and then to show they REALLY MEAN BUSINESS, they pump a round into the chamber. So, you mean you were pointing an unloaded gun at the bad guy? Also, I hate the fact that they will show someone pumping a shotgun like six different times before they ever shoot and without a shell flying out of the chamber.

Example:

Let's go get the bad guys! (pumps shotgun for effect)

(standing at door) Are you ready? (pump shotgun for effect)

(busts in, bad guy hiding in other room) Give up and we mean business! (pump shotgun for effecct)

(bad guy will not give up weapon/information) - (pump shotgun to scare bad guy)

My favorite is the fact that the hero never misses until he is up against the main bad guy. Then, suddenly he can't hit the broad side of a barn.

ding ding ding....we have a winner

i can't remember the movie with Steven Stegal but he is making some of the most amazing shots int the world...i mean ricosying shots, then the bad guy is driving a car towards him and not very fast yet he unloads the whole mag on him and misses....

how about lethal weapon...same thing, mel gibson is ricoshaying shots off steal drum containers (doesn't work, a 9mm will penitrate an oil drum) makes the happpy face while firing at a pretty high rate of fire from 50+ ft, yet put the main badguy in front of him and he cant hit shite

or i think it was one of the leathal weapons i may be wrong may have been one of the die hards, but i remember one guy took out a helicopter's "drivetrain" with a snub nosed pistol...are you shitting me

What I hate is when they show someone shooting a revolver and you see spent brass flying. A revolver does not eject the spent brass casing. It stays there until you manually empty it.

Never mind that everytime you pump in a new round the other round ejects.

The worst was last season of 24 when the Africans broke into the white house. 8 untrained young Arficans pretty much wiped out the secret service.
no shite! The whole time I was thinking how the hell are there nit any cameras in the white house... And these few young kids just took over some of the highest trained security guards in the world

That you had to cite a Medal of Honor recipient proves the point of this thread. If being hit by gunfire/shrapnel and being able to function were as easy as it's made out to be in the movies, then it wouldn't be Medal of Honor worthy in real life.

In my opinion, calling the shite that goes on in movies "realistic" cheapens what our troops go through on a daily basis.

How about shooting from the hip. Arnold Schwarzenegger films were famous for all of his hip shooting. The guy would take shots with the selector switch on full auto 100 yards away and kill 15 guys all while shooting from the hip. I still see a great deal of hip shooting in movies but not as much as there used to be. Of all of my pet peeves shooting from the hip makes me turn the movie off.

Women "badasses". Seems like more and more they have to have women kicking butt. Not just some old, has been but highly trained and huge guys. And, for good measure, most of the time the chick is hot.
