Film is good, Lazenby is the weak link tho.

As mentioned, Diana Rigg and Telly Savalas are excellent.

My only beef with the ending is that Bond didn't get enraged and pursue the murderers. The next 15 minutes would have been really fun.

That was why Diamonds Are Forever started out with the Blofeld chase it did. Which frankly was better than the rest of the film outside Plenty O’Toole’s tits.

Would have been better with Connery playing Bond.

This whole thread shows you how they’ve really mishandled the Bond franchise over the last decade. We only get 2 films per decade and they’re meh at best.

At least it’s not Star Wars

OHMSS is in my top 5 Bonds. It's marred by the long pointless Swiss chalet section but the last half hour is great

FWIW despite his awkward performance I prefer Lazenby to either Moore of Brosnan.

this movie stands out because it’s the closest adaptation on-screen to Fleming’s Bond.
Both some
scenes in Dr No ("You've had your six") as well as the whole of Craig's CR are far closer to Fleming than anything in OHMSS

I do like how a Xerox machine is a super spy device in the movie.

But boy do they try to sell him. When he first encounters Moneypenny, Bond nuzzles up to her and she says "same old Bond" and then he gropes her arse and she exclaims with titillation, "only more so!"

Then he goes through his desk and pulls out gadgets from the previous films and reminisces.

Just can't get over his voice... And the fact he walks like an Ogre. Maybe it does all fall on his shoulders.

It's a good Bond movie but the end makes it hard to watch very often.

Thought the bobsled scene at the end was cool.

Despite the fact he gets a grenade thrown at him which blows up his bobsled with him in it which he walks away from without a scratch.

But when you have Moonraker in the series, who can quibble about suspension of disbelief?

To me the first 75% of Moonraker is a great Bond Movie. The final 25% where it gets so ridiculous ruins the entire movie.

If Lazenby had not let his ego get in the way he would have been Bond throughout the 70's at least. Broccoli, et al were ready to sign him to a multi movie contract.

It's a bit more complicated than that.

GL was offered DAF, but his manager convinced him Bond was an anachronism in the post-Woodstock world (not an unreasonable view at the time), & being tied to the archaic Bond could harm his career.

GL was not yet well established enough to go out on his own. He should have copied Connery in doing Bond while playing other roles.

I like it - it kinda stands on it's own, as others have mentioned.
