I hate to say I recommend it but it’s a good movie with some excellently written and acted scenes that punch you in the gut.

2 tries. Couldn’t remember the name of the movie so I had to IMDB it. I remember loving the movie and starting a ridiculously controversial and long running thread about it when it was released.

0 - I did see that one scene in a compilation, but no way for me to recall the name without having seen it.

Absolutely. Out of context it’s just a bunch of mumbling and interrupting, but knowing the history it’s beautifully done and gut wrenching. “I just can’t” personifies that movie.
I don’t know that I’ll ever watch it again other than watching it with my sons as we work through some of the better movies before they go off to college.
One of the more bittersweet movies. Doesn’t end happy but not hopeless either. “I can’t beat it,” is one of my favorite lines from the decade because it means so much.
If you didn’t catch it, watch “the way back” with Ben Affleck. Very similar themes with a basketball backdrop.
