I figured this would be red meat for the MSB and am shocked it hasn't made its way here, so here you go, fire away.

quote:

The sum of his weight and body fat percentage must be below 295. If it is not, the amount of guaranteed money in Williamson’s contract can be reduced.

I'm hoping he gets down to 194 lbs but has 100% body fat.

He does not. Just has to be not fat.

Meh, he’ll whine and stomp around until they remove it, a la Kyler Murray. No fat shaming allowed.

Zion has hired a professional chef in the recent month. He wants to be around 265 for the reg season.

2022-2023 season will officially be the year of the Pelican. League remains fricked.

He's 100% on board with it. He talked to some smart people this past year and has realized how much he fricked up.

He fired his chef/nutritionist (his mother) and personal trainer (his stepdad), and hired actual high level professionals for these positions. He looks really good right now.

I disagree. All the tea leaves point to Zion having a good relationship with the front office. He's taking it seriously.

WTF kind of combination is this. He can be 265 and 29% body fat and he's good?

That seems like an actual difficult number for him to hit so he’s really going to have to stick with the workouts he’s been doing

I was just talking out my arse. That’s good if he’s really taking responsibility for what he needs to do to be as successful as he can be.

Good for him. I like his game and would like to see him have success. He was eating himself out of the league.

As I told the person who said this on the Pels Board, Zion definitely wouldn't be 265 lbs if he was 29% body fat. I assume the goal is for him to stay below 275 lbs and 20% body fat.

I get they want him to stay in shape, but if I'm his agent I never let him sign that. He wouldn't have been in compliance while he was at Duke when they drafted him #1 overall. He was listed at 285 at Duke and no way he was under 10% body fat then.

You don't think that he knows what his weight and body fat % was when he signed the contract? He definitely wouldn't sign it if he didn't think he could stay under it.

ETA: anyway, the only way that this would even matter would be if the Pels wanted to cut him, it's guaranteed money that is reduced and that only comes into play if a player is cut, so unless he has some sort of career ending injury it isn't relevant.
