Theo and the office are usually infallible, but this signing had me scratching my head from the beginning. It just keeps getting worse.

I was never a fan of this move. This season, for Darvish, has been more of a disappointment than I could have imagined though.
That being said, it's a shame he hasn't gotten enough healthy innings in to change peoples minds.

It’s actually pretty damn telling how well the Cubs were built/how deep they are when you think about how Darvish/Chatwood/Quintana have performed yet it’s mid August and they still have the best record in the NL

At least Quintana is serviceable. He’ll have a good outing every now and then. Darvish is just a waste and Chatwood is a flat out detriment to the team.

Again - they wanted these guys at the right price. Not what he was going to get.
But because you have no clue about anything and are blinded by your hatred of JD, you don’t know what you are talking about.
The Rangers weren’t going to get anywhere near $100mln for Darvish. And while I love Darvish, Daniels was being prudent.

I'm not ready to give up on Yu yet. Sure, it's been a lost season and I'd rather Arrieta, but it was a multi year deal. All I can do is hope he bounces back.
Chatwood is god-awful and shouldn't even have a roster spot. Theo needs to just eat that contract.
Quintana is at least serviceable and awesome 1 out of every 5 starts. I'd take the trade back because of the Eloy though.

Interested to see if Hamels found something new in Chicago. He obviously can’t keep up this pace but if he can be a legitimate Game 1/2 starter that would be huge for the Cubs, because their pen is good but I don’t know if it’s good enough to patch over their rotation right now all the way to another title.

I tried to as well, had a discussion with my Cub friends and they felt Darvish would be a better long term option than Arrieta. I couldn't bring myself to agree. But offering either of them 6 years was just ridiculous though and I'm told Jake was also offered 6. Theo and Jed shite the bed with their logic there IMHO. Lucky to get Hamels to give them a chance this year.
