It is possible that the Heisman just doesn't mean much anymore.
It's unique... To them, like a Friar's Club.
I love how Gino shows up every year...in this, hey remember me moment.
Probably the profound intended nature of the trophy died with Nile Kinneck who put sports into perspective.
Kinnick made the following statement during his acceptance speech:
quote:
Finally, if you'll permit me, I'd like to make a comment which in my mind, is indicative perhaps of the greater significance of football, and sports emphasis in general in this country, and that is; I thank God I was warring on the gridirons of the Midwest and not on the battlefields of Europe. I can speak confidently and positively that the players of this country would much more, much rather struggle and fight to win the Heisman award than the Croix de Guerre.

No one was more valuable this year than Duggan. These voters are awful.

Crazy stat...last Heisman QB to win a Super Bowl won the Heisman in 1970.
Honestly, I'm not that surprised by this. Most of these guys end up on teams that are bad in one way or another.
Burrow might have a shot at breaking that streak--especially because Cincy seems to have a good to great team around him--but as long as that incompetent fool Taylor is there, Cincy is going to be handcuffed.
But most of these guys for the last 20 years never seemed like guys that were going to win you a Super Bowl. Maybe Cam, but then he wouldn't even jump on a fumble. Lamar might have a shot--if Baltimore can ever stop blowing 2 score leads.
But Crouch, White, Smith, Tebow, Bradford, Manziel, Winston, Mariota, Mayfield, and Murray? Hell no.
Hell, Eric Crouch literally looks like the guy reliving his glory days.

Was the best player in college football and most important to his team.

37 Qbs have won the Heisman (not counting the 2 still in College) and only 3 have won a Super Bowl.
Which is why its purely a College Award and as mentioned, they obviously get drafted too high to bad teams because of the stature of the award.

I think they should switch to not awarding the trophy if there’s not a true standout.

Caleb Williams is so fricking bad, lmao
Just another addition to the long list of failures of heisman trophy winning QBs out of USC

I knew two right off the bat. Would never have names the third one even with 50 “guesses”.
