You know, people make this argument all the time, yet not a single one has come here to explain why Wisconsin should be eligible but not a 1-loss Auburn team.

because wisconsin won their conference... if you lose the last game and still get in than what's the point?
it should matter when you lose. oklahoma absolutely should not have gotten in in 2003, nor should have nebraska in 2001. LSU at least won their last game in 2007

Did Michigan State and Ohio State win their conference? Because the Big 10 said they did. So they should all be eligible because the Big10 makes a rule saying 30% of our conference is a Big10 champ, but the SEC's best team isn't?
Would you be okay with it, if the SEC said, the winner of the SECCG goes to the Sugar, but the team with the higher BCS ranking is "our champion"

so did 2 other teams. If Auburn loses to USCe, they will still have the best record in the SEC all by themselves, Wisconsin can not say that.

why? I hate that mentality. A loss is a loss. Wisconsin still lost a conference game, that would be the same as AU if AU loses Saturday, the difference would be no one can match AU, when Wisky lost, others could have had a better record.

You mean like Kansas in 2007?
Their SOS was a jeauke, but if they'd played a legitimate schedule they would have had a good case.

Ohio State was Big Ten co-champs in 2002.

I don't wanna hear it LSU fans.
You can't bitch about us claiming these things in 2007 if this is the case.

OU in 2003 was destroying people and was hands down the best team in the Big12. NU in 2001 I can see Oregon going instead.
CCGs are for money only, and should be looked at as simply another conference game. I like HTT (or maybe Matt)'s idea that the SEC's AQ is the SECCG winner, but the Conference Champ is the team with the best ranking/record in the final rankings

i look at it as, if you win you're in, so shouldn't you be out if you lose?

great. Maybe the SEC can have the CG a week early and then everyone can play McNeese or something the last week.
There -Fixed that problem.

why does the NCAA basketball selection committee look at the last 10 games? that keeps teams out of the tournament

A loss on September 1 counts just as much as does a loss on December 1.

If you want to count a game on December 6 more than you count a game on October 6, why even play the game on October 6 at all?

Really? If #1 Duke loses in the ACC tournament they would be out?
