immaturity at times.
You mean watching a HR that would not have been a big deal until Brian McCann tried playing imaginary rule enforced?

but I really start to wonder how well he'll keep his average up when his bat speed starts to slow down around age 29/30.

Strasburg and Harper
They have a legit argument. If we are talking immaturity, though, maybe you should look at Harper. He's fresh off getting benched for not hustling.
Also, there are talks that Strasburg's delivery will inevitably catch up with him and injuries will derail his career. He has all the talent in the world, though.

Just stop it. Wood will not be an elite pitcher. A great arm in the bullpen or average #3/#4 starter, but he won't be a top of the rotation arm.
And you know this how? You speak in such absolutes... that's how one makes a fool of themselves. He has a lot of Chris Sale in him... it's very possible he is a true TORP. Time will tell but it's stupid to completely dismiss it off the bat.
You should stop channeling your inner Quidam... it's an ugly look.

yeah, you've apparently read nothing about the guy's past or comments from his own personal coach, Orlando Chinea.
I don't give a frick about watching a HR. I do give a frick and think it's disrespectful to spit at Chris Johnson as you're rounding 3rd. He was known for spitting on opposing players in HS too, which leads me to believe it wasn't an accident. That was the bigger deal, moreso than watching the HR.

Really? A guy who has a long swing and struggles to hit for average usually declines as he nears 30, moreso than others.

That was bullshite IMO. I'm not saying Harper isn't immature either (blowing a kiss to the pitcher he hit a HR off in the minors, etc.) but that not hustling thing was BS and you should know that.
I'm just a bigger believer in Harper than Stanton based on total skills instead of just power (which Harper is pretty close if not equal to Stanton) and I think Strasburg/Fernandez will pretty much be interchangeable or the difference wouldn't make up the difference between Stanton and Harper.

Cole and Cutch
Not bad. Cutch is a little to inconsistent for my taste, but not a bad alternative. Cole will be alright, but I don't think he becomes elite.

If almost any other catcher did that he would be heralded for standing up for his team. But because he played for the much hated Braves it's a problem.

Man, this is a message board, which is obviously filled with opinion. It's pretty obvious I'm stating my opinion. You act as though I printed this in an article or something. Sure, I could be wrong about him, but I'd guarantee that 99% of MLB scouts would agree that he is more likely to be a #3/#4 pitcher than a #1/#2.

I'll be waiting for your report.
On Stanton/Strasburg
You are going to harp on Stanton's swing mechanics as he ages and you think Fernandez and Strasburg are pretty much interchangeable?
Do you see the irony in that?

Wacha and Taveras will be the answer in 2 years.
Posted on 4/30/14 at 11:12 am to Moustache
why do you think Wood is a SP4 or bullpen arm?
Posted on 4/30/14 at 11:13 am to Oxford
Chris Sale and Jose Abreu
Yu Darvish and Adrian Beltre
David Price and Evan Longoria
A healthy Jose Cueto and Joey Votto

3 pages and no one has said Madison Bumgarner and Buster Posey?
I'm a huge fan of Posey, but something is wrong with his swing right now. He's stunk since the ASB last year and has slumped this year so far. I like MadBum. One of the most team-friendly contracts.

MadBum is young, but already has three 200 IP seasons under his belt.

Oh for fricks' sake. Go read reports on Wood. Let me know how many of them mention he's a frontline starter vs. how many mention he's a #3/#4 guy with potential in the bullpen if that doesn't work out.

Of course, but the dreaded "inverted W" is proven to be highly overrated and false. Maybe Strasburg won't get injured again. Then again, maybe he will. It is a crapshoot sometimes. Hell, Matt Harvey was said to have impeccable mechanics and now he's out with TJ surgery.
It is also why I prefaced it with any difference in Fernandez/Stras is made up by the difference I believe (again this is just my opinion) Harper will have over Stanton.
