And, no, I have never met a real live Clippers fan

I lived in L.A. for around 7 years and I don't think I did either! I knew a lot of people that had season tickets and went to games but that was more because they could get good lower level seats for cheap and they used those to watch good teams when they came to town. When I decided to buy season tickets I got Lakers season tickets which I had for 3 years, they are my team, and my seats were in the VERY TOP ROW of Staples. For the same price I could have been lower level if I had bought Clippers tickets but frick THAT!

Most owners are just egomaniacs and don't care about making $ as much as they just want to show-off but he really did approach it like a business which I can respect. I also appreciated it because the Lakers are my squad!

So I'm assuming the folks packing Staples these days are pretty much just the same bandwagoners who were rooting for the lakers, just wearing red and blue these days?

Honestly, the only people I've ever met who even remotely care about LAC are OU and A&M fans who watched Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan in college.

I appreciate the owner, like Dr jerry buss, who puts everything they have into the team to make it the best team it can be a lot more. there's a reason why sterling is universally renowned as the worst owner in sports

Yeah absolutely No free Agents will want to play for Doc Rivers, live by the beach, pump models, and do Kia commercials to spite DS!

They clearly had different goals. He wanted to turn a profit off the team, not appreciate his asset. He was certainly successful at that. He bought the team for nothing so whether it was worth $200 mil or $500 mil makes little difference unless he had plans to sell. Clippers fans continued to go to games and allowed this cycle to continue for years. They could have forced him to change his strategy and did not.

Lakers fans are pretty damn loyal but ya a lot of the Laker "fans" that just went the games because it was the place to see and be seen have switched to the Clippers.

Even when they sucked and even if they weren't really fans, people would go to Clippers games because the average person could afford to take a family of four unlike for the Lakers.

Wasn't trying to flame, just originally was impressed at their fan support, then I was like, "wait a goddamn minute..."

I'm slow

From everything I have heard he treats his players EXTREMELY well, he even built them a 50 million dollar practice facility. I really wouldn't care what my boss thought about me as long as i loved my job, he took great care of me and paid me more than I could earn anywhere else. Plus there is that being an NBA player in L.A. thing that is pretty fricking awesome!

You weren't flaming, you were correct to a certain extent. ALL teams have a % of bandwagon fans and in a city like L.A. even if only like 5% of Laker fans were bandwagon fans that switched over it would be more than enough to fill up Staples for Clipper games.

I have yet to see a zebra that has changed its stripes. And Sterling is not about to become the most tolerant person in the NBA.

I wonder if the NAACP is still going to give him their life time achievement award.

Cool, I was just re-reading that and I was like that could probably be construed as a potshot at LAL.

I mean, not that y'all don't deserve it, but I call my shots like a gentleman, dammit!

Exactly.
The amount of stupid people have to think players wouldn't come to L.A. over DS's assinine views is comical

His racist views have been well known for years that didnt stop anyone from taking his paycheck

Including Doc Rivers

This "they still cash his checks" line is so disingenuous.

Are you implying that his employees shouldn't have a problem with his continued racism just because he's the boss? That's asinine.
