It's a little footnote under the headlines section

From ESPN
“
Hell yeah, I recruited a lot of kids for Miami. With access to the clubs, access to the strip joints. My house. My boat. We're talking about high school football players. Not anybody can just get into the clubs or strip joints. Who is going to pay for it and make it happen? That was me.
”
-- Convicted Ponzi schemer Nevin Shapiro
Love how they added that little bit about Shapiro at the end. They seem mad.

Well not really because he mentioned the rapper Luther "Uncle Luke" Campbell was doing the same thing before getting the boot from the University. In fact he became "Lil Uncle Luke" and admits to taking over where Luther left off.
that was from the 80's. it didnt affect the titles. these conveniently start right after their last title.

Wow ESPN's non-coverage of this story is pretty fricking laughable.
It's hilarious that they are so quick to run rampant with loads of unverified bull shite and innuendo as long as it's produced by their own hacks.

Yeah Robinson and Wetzel pretty much bitch slapped ESPN and their pseudo investigative reporters.

You are correct. I will admit I didn't know too many details of Luther. I was just assuming by what Shapiro said. Thanks for the correction.

It is amazing how corrupt the sport's news business has become. Seems like little Yahoo is the only sports outlet actually doing investigative journalism. The rest kowtow to the power conferences.

Anybody look at the links to each individual player involved? There's so much detail on each guy that it's amazing. These Yahoo guys put in work.

Every other outlet is somehow in bed with the conferences though, because every other outlet has ties to a TV station with some kind of contract with the conferences. Yahoo doesn't, at least as far as I know.

I would like to agree with you, but I'm afraid I'll be called an OSU homer.

Nah, go ahead. It's an all encompassing statement, referring to all the bullshite that ESPN decides to run with as fact (i.e. Miles to Michigan).
I would venture to say that the majority of institutions around the country have played victim, at one point or another, to their comedy-journalism.
ETA: The absolute worst part about it is that they have virtually no repercussions for sucking arse at their jobs.

The article didnt make it very clear. I remember it because it was on the 30 for 30 special. ITs one reason why im not not shocked at all. Everything here was present (and admited to) on the 30 for 30 special, exept then it was wore because i think the players were actually criminally violent then (Steve Walsh had a great story about a teammate needing money and pulling a gun and ski mask out of his car).

Robinson apparently thought the guy was full of shite until he produced 20,000 pages of records, at which point Charles started researching things and assembling the parts of the story.
