Professional athletes are better than amateur athletes. Also, NBA athletes are a notch above pros all over the world. NFL/Mlb, for instance, have tons of fatties. Tom F'ing Brady was the SB MVP 2 years ago. Kawhi was the NBA Finals MVP. Biggest. Lulz. Ever.

Ha! Take it up with the Apple Gods. I'll edit.

ETA: If he ever pulls a Bruce Jenner he should consider Khawia.

Its also worth noting that the talent pool has been spread out in college basketball, to some degree.

It used to be that you had to go to a program with some profile-- now the NBA will find you if you are at Podunct State. You get to go there, jack up tough, ill advised shots, and don't develop as a third option at a major program from Day 1, until you've grown a complete game to star as an upper classman.

Now, instead of 300 real players with 50 real teams, you have 300 real players on 150 real-ish teams.

he skill of a NBA player who is the 12th man on the bench is mind blowing. I've played 1 on 1, sort of goofing off, with guys who averaged 1 or 2 points a game in the NBA and the skill was amazing, almost impossible to get a shot off with how quick their hands are
Most people don't understand the difference or how truly skilled the NBA is

Back when Master P was trying to be an agent, he brought Ron Mercer to the LSU gym to play a pickup game with the master P entourage. There was a lot of pretty athletic looking dudes out there and Mercer just dominated while loafing around. I recall him underhand tossing a pass from the baseline to a guy in the paint on the other side of the court just effortlessly with precision.

For the most part, college players are athletes.

NBA guys are basketball players.

I know a few people who have played Steve Blake from his first stint in Portland. He would drain 3 after 3 like he was steph and lock them down hardly trying. This is Steve freaking Blake. Made me think of the Scalebrine challenge from a few years ago.

Yea I know a couple guys who played small college ball and they said playing pickup games with no name guys who were in the NBA was impossible. They said the speed difference is ridiculous and they seem like they're not even trying. And like you said, they'll just pull up from 3 and drill it with no effort at all.

MLB with a 25 man roster but several minor league systems and a yearly draft that has over 20 rounds. That is more exceptional talent I believe.

That actually would be proving the opposite. NBA has smaller teams, so fewer players get a shot. So those few players are the elite of the elites in the world

NBA probably has the the biggest talent gap between pros and the average player than the other major sports

The worst team in the NBA at the end of the day still consists of 100% NBA players. The best college teams consist of a few future NBA players, the rest are future insurance salesmen, accountants, and whatever other desk job you can imagine. The same applies to football. That's what makes those "could [insert good college team here] beat [shitty pro team here]?" Threads so hilariously stupid

I don't know about that. Imo, MLB is the hardest of all pro sports to make it.

It's a much longer road that's for sure. But when talking strictly talent I think the NBA takes it, seeing how they are pretty much the best athletes in the world regardless of basketball ability. Who knows tho

If nothing else, it makes a box score more interesting to look at. You can get a decent frame of the flow of the game by looking at the score by quarters.

Example:

Team - 1 - 2 - T
UNC 38 41 - 79
Duke 37 40 - 77

Team - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - T
UNC 16 22 29 12 - 79
Duke 28 9 11 29 - 77

When I see the top box score, I might wanna see highlights. When I see the bottom, I wanna see highlights and read the story.

The ball handling skills are amazing. Watching a play in game one year and the teams were fumbling the ball all over the place.
