the nba game in watching now has more passionate defense than anything I've seen recently.

Some folks will not like to hear this.

I'm far from being an NBA fan, and won't watch until the playoffs, but even an outsider like me can see that the NBA game has gotten better.

NBA players are better obviously. My only problem with professional sports is that the rules have been changed to where there is no defense. I hate that NBA players can play iso ball then just run in the lane, throw up a Hail Mary and get a foul. College at least calls charging and traveling.

My issue with Basketball is the one and done rule. They should allow high schoolers to go directly to the NBA if they can. If they don't, go to college for three years then you're eligible again. College basketball would get much better.

95% of the best college players used to stay on campus for at least three years. Now they usually leave after a year or two.

I was in this camp until I started watching some. It's not the Michael Jordan days anymore.

The last two minutes have ruined basketball for me. I can't watch a game live anymore

I can't stand when a team fouls like crazy and calls a million timeouts

I watch it back on dvr and only watch the live plays.

I don't think you've heard of the Jordan Rules

Meh,

The NCAA ruined college BBall with the BS fouls they call now. The games became unwatchable three years ago.

The NBA is on par with wrestling, but I can see where it would be "better" due to better athletes "playing".

I'll tell you this... one of my high school teammates was the best player I've ever seen. He was incredible. He went on to start at a highly-ranked Pac-10 program and was a really good player there.

He wasn't drafted. Now, he was an undersized PG, so that was the main reason, but he never played in the NBA and he was incredible. He got some workouts with different NBA teams but no team signed him and he made a career in Europe.

That's how tough it is to make the league.

On the other hand, I played against Al Farouq Aminu in high school and wasn't impressed at all. And he's a rotation guy in the NBA.

So who knows.

When was the last time you watched an NBA game?

This is an honestly frightening post that has zero grasp in reality

This is also just so, so dumb. I can completely get behind allowing guys to go pro out of high school, but anyone who wants this 3 year rule apparently wants zero talent in CBB. There are SOOOO many better options then going to play CBB if you want to develop in to an NBA player, especially given the fact that most of the league has a DLeague affiliate now.

In CBB you have limited practice time on top of the regular requirements you have as student. Majority of these guys never get the chance to operate in a way that correlates to actual NBA skills. Plus they don't get paid.

The overreaction to the one and done rule continues to make no sense to me. It only effects like 5-10 schools out of 300 D1 schools, it gives us a chance to see guys play in CBB that would have skipped it entirely in the past, and the one and done rule says nothing about forcing guys to leave early. Like 99% of the guys that leave after one year usually end up in the first round with guaranteed money.

I don't know if it is "frightening" but "zero grasp in reality" is spot on.

Agree. College basketball as a skills event may be "worse" but as a competition, it is better than ever because of the number of teams that can compete in the tournament.

It's not like even the best college football team is actually any good compared to the NFL.

Dafuq? You just described college ball, not the NBA

The NBA does this as well. Especially the past few years.

Aau ball has killed college basketball. Instead of off season with your ha coach working on 2-3 zone rotations you are flying across the country playing pick up ball

If u r athletic enough to play in the association you pretty much are skating by on athleticism until you you put on an nba jersey and face someone just as athLetic as you are and u r forced to seriously work on your skills for the first time

I played on the same hs team as Joe Johnson (lr central 99) amount others we were stacked lol. I was a sophisticated when he was a senior. In 2 years I literally never saw Joe 100% try anything. Joe could take over game at 70% and there was nothing u could do about it.

Joe was never a defensive Stallworth or anything bit when he wanted to get could use his athletic ability and shut just about anyone down. We had another top 100 player in his class (Jared hart) on our team and when he wanted to Jared couldn't do shite.but he never was sound defensively, he was still growing into his body and had shitty footwork and he had issues with smaller quicker players blowing by him.that was the book on joe...I so him against your fastest player put shooters in the corners so no one can help and you'll win half the time .north little rock ..same school as the late ten penny had a point guard that would light us up for 30-40 every time we played doing the same thing but we'd win but that was the game we always had to sweat out

Anyway I run into Joe at the local gym the year after his rookie season we playing 5 on 5 and night and day difference . I mean there was literally nothing you could do. My cousin who is6'9 and played with Joe at arkansas literally could not dribble without getting his pocket picked

And no one would ever consider Joe to be a hell of a defensive player. I wonder what playing someone like Payton on his prime would be like

In Jr high when I was in 9th grade we had 2 7 graders who were good enough to start for the 9th grade team. One of them was the most skilled guard I'd ever seen and he was like already 6'1 Playing shooting guard in the seventh grade shite he was our leading scorer dude could ball. I just knew dude was going to be spectacular . His name is Terrance Adkins and he ended up playing in the sun belt

The other...was like 6'3 HE couldn't do anything great he was just tall athethick and could jume out the gym.he could dribble well enough to bring it up court but really wasn't guard could post up but wasn't a big man. He was just there lol. He wasn't even a starter that year

That dude was bam doyne who played for Ole miss. Sometimes you just don't know
