College baseball is niche enough. I’d imagine this thing wouldn’t be worth the cost of putting on.

I don't think college baseball is popular enough to have another tournament.

No.
Because it would give the selection committee a “reason” to exclude more mid-majors from the real 64, and just send them to the other tournament.
We’d immediately see the Sunbelt go from 3-4 bids down to 1, and maybe a second every now and then.

This is a complete nonstarter from a financial perspective

Awful idea. No one would watch a baseball NIT. College baseball in general is not very popular, and this would be even less popular.
Also, you sound like one of the moronic losers who believes in the completely subjective “eye test”. I’m never in favor of measures of success that are completely subjective such as the “eye test”.

something like that in baseball doesn't even make sense financially. Few people would actually attend those games or even watch on television. There would not be close to enough interest to even pay the travel and lodging costs for something like that. I love baseball, but it's a niche sport. Niche sports don't need NIT-like tournaments for people who didn't make it to the NCAAT. Hell, a lot of schools lose money playing in college football bowl games.

Oh well, 1 example out of how many years?
they're not the only low seeded team make it to Omaha.
3 seeds have made the CWS in
2022
2021
2019 (2)
2018
2017
2015
2014
2012
2011
2009
2007 (2)
2004
2003
2000
4 seeds have made it to the CWS in
2023
2012
2008
Those mid-major AQ teams are largely 3 and 4 seeds. A total of 19 have advanced to the CWS since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1999 (24 total tournaments). That's not a small number. It's just short of an average of 1 every year Most of them are rarely going to have the RPI to even get in the tournament, but that doesn't mean they aren't good baseball teams.

A much more deserving team was left out because of them
name them
Oral Roberts was 51-12 entering the NCAAT and went 23-1 in their conference.

It makes sense now. OP favorite team is listed as College of Charleston. They got left out so he wants to create an entire new tournament or change the existing one.
And calling people “fricking losers” if they aren’t interested.

It would be like the CIT, not the NIT: pay for play.
There's no money for it.

The incredible simple mindedness of this comment is incredible. I’ve changed my favorite team over the years dozens of times.
I simply asked if they would support it, be interested in a 16 team, single elimination tournament. And now, everyone is a quant, and talking about profitability, etc…I simply asked if a 16 team tournament would be enticing. Not talking about revenue & profit. That’s it, a college tournament with quality baseball that fans, scouts & coaches could attend.
