Michael Jordan is the best basketball player I have ever seen and got me thinking about when he retired the first time. If Jordan didn't leave basketball in the 93-94 and the 94-95 season would they beat the Houston rockets?

I say yes. He was at his peak in 1993, and if he had carried over without a baseball break, they would have beaten a Rockets team that the Knicks took to 7 games and a team the next year that was an underdog throughout the playoffs that beat a very young and inexperienced Magic team.

I still to this day hate the rockets for beating my Orlando magic that year as a kid. I always wondered how the bulls would handled hakeem olajuwon. I still think the bulls would have won and would have been similar to when they beat the jazz back to back.

the who's guarding Akeem is a relveant question, but whos guarding Jordan,Pippen?
The Rockets, mind you, were going for their own three peat and failed to show up against the reborn Bulls in '96. Not a heart of a dynasty.

Jordan didn’t think so. FYI That’s why he stepped away.

The MSB told me he was suspended for some odd number of games

The 1994 Rockets were damn good, and Jordan and the Bulls actually had a losing record against Hakeem in the regular season during their careers.
The NBA is a matchup league, and as good as Jordan was, the Rockets would have been trouble for the Bulls.
In 1995, the same issue would arise, plus the fact that Orlando was really good. I'm not convinced they beat Orlando if Jordan never retires.
Lastly, I'm not sure you can just hand Jordan those titles and continue to think he'd have the same career from 1996-1998. He's have far more minutes and wear and tear to the body.

The 94 Bulls had a 36 year old Bill Cartwright, Bill Wennington, and Stacey King as their primary bigs. They then traded King for Luc Longley at the trade deadline or so.
That is hardly the set up to stop peak Hakeem. I guess a young Horry goes up against Pippen, while Maxwell tries to stop Jordan? Would be a really mismatched series other than Kenny Smith and BJ Armstrong.

The Bulls not only lost Jordan but Horace Grant to the Magic so I doubt that 2nd years outcome changes.

Jordan was back in the 95 season. He dropped 55 his third game back. People just gloss over his return and loss to the Magic in the semifinals.
When MJ came back in 95 the Bulls went 13-4 with MJ to finish the season. MJ averaged 31 ppg against Orlando in the playoffs.
In 96 when Chicago swept Orlando MJ averaged 29.5 ppg on slightly better shooting. His performances were pretty comparable. The difference? Dennis Rodman. Orlando destroyed Chicago on the boards in 95. In 96 Chicago with Rodman erased that rebounding edge and swept Orlando.
Houston beats Chicago in 95 with MJ because of no Grant/Rodman.

That Magic team beat Mike, who averaged 31ppg in the series.

Yes, the Rockets were the #6 seed in the West & were lucky to get passed the Jazz in the 1st round

They couldnt even beat the team that got swept by the Rockets in the finals

First of all Jordan was back in 94-95 and they scrubbed out to Orlando. So, definite no on that one. The title winning bulls in the 90s all had: Jordan, Pippen, and a really good big in either Horace Grant or Rodman. Oh and the best NBA coach of all time. And 94-95 they just didn’t have a big and they weren’t going anywhere in the playoffs even with Jordan back the whole time. They scrub out to Orlando who gets swept by the Rockets.
However, in 93-94 you could make a solid case. They were only 2 games worse than the season before (without Jordan) because the rest of the core was all there. The Rockets were obviously a very strong team so it’s hard to say for sure, but it’s certainly believable.

Good question. Olajuwon was at his peak.
