Wow. That was difficult to watch. I've seen that type of injury in kick-boxing and soccer, but never basketball.

Saw this happen to a guy live on a high school game. Jumped up for a rebound, came down and snapped his tibia and fibula straight in half, sounded like a gun shot
Kid was screaming and crying for his mom for a solid 10 minutes until they could get and ambulance and staff to move him. Worst injury I've ever seen on TV or live. Looked just like this one. Thing was it broke so clean and didnt tear any essential knee ligaments and he was only out for 3 months

How does that even happen? Seems like there was no contact, and doesnt sound any different than a normal jump.
