Are there Astros fans country wide?

I'm an Astros fan in East TN... but I did grow up in Houston.
I doubt the Astros pick up many fans that don't have some sort of regional connection. I'm sure it happens due to certain players, but not like the Cubs, Red Sox, Yankees, Braves, and other teams.

No.
They've never been that kind of team and even with this run they won't be.

DC is huge market
But it’s still a Skins town
It's all Caps, all Nats.

Yes but they’re still the most followed team in the city?

They've lost 30 to 40% of their fanbase. 15 years ago they OWNED the city - but ownership has burned too many bridges.
Caps have been winning fans for years now.

Nope.
The Skins used to be the team. Now, it’s all about Nats and Caps.
Nats have done a fantastic job of marketing, like college days.
The Skins have had 6 winning seasons out of the past 20. The best b2b was 9 and 8 wins. Only 3 double digit win totals.
The previous 20 they had around 13 winning seasons and 9 double digit winning seasons.

Gotcha didn’t know that
Like here in NY.
Giants have sucked since 2012 but it’s been a Giants City
Well to be fair it’s an everything
All the teams are widely followed
The big names of course a little more than their little brothers
Giants over Jets
Yankees over Mets
And yes Knicks over Nets
Rangers over Islanders but that’s a no brainer
Gotta give it to them, This city really is a great sports city

It may have already been said but MLB does an absolutely god awful job of marketing star players. Astros vs. Nats is about as star studded a matchup as you could have but the casual fan who just tunes in for October would never know that. They probably know Verlander cause he's married to Kate Upton and maybe another player or two.
MLB has got to get more teams in prime time and do profiles of the Soto, Altuve, Lindors of the league. ESPN not having as much skin in the game as they do with the NBA is a killer as well. Don't see much baseball on the talking head shows.

Even with bad teams the NFL team always seems to be the top team in the city

The coverage is just dominated by how bad we are. The fan base is still huge but it’s apathetic.
The Caps and Nats still fill the void but none can compare to how DC area is when the Skins make the playoffs.

Game 2 ratings

@SportsTVRatings
11.925 million viewers for Nats/Astros game 2 on Fox. think that might be the least-watched World Series game on record.
