Not sure...saw another post saying issues with FS1....but the game was on Fox....not sure what the issue is.

Who doesn't want to "admit" it? Notwithstanding the fact that they have been generally cold in the playoffs, their offense is literally one of the greatest ever. If people don't want to see the matchup between that and one of the all time great pitching/fielding teams, in the words of the late Hank Conger, frick EM.
Because they probably aren't real baseball fans anyway, and many of the "national appeal" type fans are philistine yuppies not that dissimilar from many American fans of the Premier League.

Being down 3% for the year prior is a little surprising, but 3% is pretty small.
I was surprised at that stat until I realized that the game started at 5 PM Tuesday on the west coast. A lot of people in LA were probably either still at work or stuck in traffic when the game started. When you consider the fact that LA is a west coast team and Houston goes by central standard time, there's no reason why that game shouldn't have started at 9 PM EST. Hell, ABC and the NBA always start their weekday final games that are played on the west coast at 9 PM EST. Fox and MLB should have done the same.

Agree with both. But I think it is much better for the game in the long run that the teams with "little national appeal" make it to the world series. If the Yankees, Dodgers, Mets, Cubs, and Red Sox make it every year, the gap between them and everyone else gets that much wider. MLB is so guilty of trying to shove a handful of teams down our throats that the only games I watch now involve the Astros.
I am glad for the good of the game that the Yankees didn't make the series...the only thing that would have made it better would have been if the Pirates made it in the NL. Screw Fox....it is almost like they want Astros fans to feel guilty for making the series instead of the Yankees.

Would you?
I mean, Kansas City is weak sauce, and New York is huge, but the Mets aren't the Yankees.
That being said, these numbers are solid.

Wonder if it has anything to do with DirecTV cutting out FS1. I know friends with Directv came to our place to watch.
The World Series games are on regular Fox, not FS1.
I use DirecTVNOW and had no problems watching through the Fox Sports Go app yesterday.

Fox likely is still crying the stros beat the Yanks
East coast snowflakes can’t watch sports unless it involves one of storylines.

Six out of the seven games in the ALCS was broadcast on FS1. That is a major problem. People just don't watch FS1 so there was no buildup of interest for this Astros team. When you play one postseason game on broadcast television before the World Series, how do you expect the sport to generate interest?

Ehh..the KC Royals story was more intriguing than the Astros. I know the Astros have been really bad the last several seasons but they at least went to a WS in the last 12 years. KC had been horrible for a LONGGG time. Plus, they had more personalities on that KC team not to mention Ned Yost. Altuve and to a lesser extent, Correa are really the only "personalities" on that Astros team. JMO.

Houston is under 6 million, same as philadelphia.
Ny metro is 17 million. They sometimes count northeastern pa for 18. I dont.
L.A is 12.
Chicago under 9, more like 6 if you dont include as far as joliet and southern wisc.
I dont know where you hear houston is small market. Its not. Its 5th/6th with philadelphia.

Last year all of the wild card, division series, and championship series games for both leagues were on cable. No FOX until the world series.

Houston is the #7 media market in the US... behind NYC, LA, Chicago, Philly, DFW, and Washington DC... just ahead of SF, Atlanta, and Boston. #6-#10 are all tightly grouped though, less than 100k difference.

And last year's World Series would have gotten mediocre TV ratings if it wasn't for the novelty of the Cubs trying to win their first World Series in 108 years.

No, it would have still gotten good ratings... just not AS good.

I know they shouldn't be small market, but they always get lumped in with small market teams.

Who doesn't want to admit it?
Despite being in the 4th largest city of the country, they are not one of the leagues most valuable franchises.
Around right in the middle.
Do the Astros have their own network?
