Ainge seem to get a full of himself and became the guy no one even wanted to look at offers from because he didn't want to deal unless he was blatantly fricking you.
I was thinking that. It’s a small league, that strategy can’t work out well in the long run. Especially when it looks like they need to shake up this roster.

Brown and Tatum just don’t play well together.
The sooner they start building around Tatum, the better off they will be. Trade Brown and Kemba for assets and be ok with sucking for a few years. I don’t see any other way they can compete with the big 3 in the East with the roster they have now.

There goes the Brad Stevens to Duke rumors
And now shitty do Indiana fans feel knowing they threw the kitchen sink at him and he still didn’t go?

Yeah I get the new direction from ainge part of it. I think a lot of those assets not panning out can be attributed to bad luck, like Kyrie and like Hayword, but that’s how these things roll
But to hear some people spin it, you’d think they were the Kings.

I agree I would do a mini-rebuild in Boston around Tatum, trade or get rid of everything except him and spend 2 years getting things right.

If they trade Brown I feel like you’d have Taytum asking out less than a calendar year later
I wouldn’t be too eager to flip my second best asset just to make a move. Kemba is locking in your ceiling either way so unless you get a haul or a superstar In return I doubt a brown trade makes them better

Yeah, the people saying they should trade Brown for picks/assets to re-tool because they can't compete with the top teams in the East don't know how the NBA works right now.
If you have a star and aren't moving towards competing then you're about to have a disgruntled star and soon after, no star.

I’d love to know wtf is happening behind the scenes

Brown is 24 and Tatum is 23. They’d be stupid to trade either of them.

He assembled the team and wasted most of the assets they had over the years. He's not a scapegoat. He's the one at fault. Full stop.

I don’t think they’d be trading either for guys over 30. If there was a great trade out there for them I think they should explore it. They’re very similar players and one is clearly better than the other so I think there’s some diminishing returns with having both.

Danny screwed the pooch. That team was set to compete for titles for years a half decade ago but they Never came close.
I honestly don't know what Ainge could have done any better than he did. He got Tatum and Brown, signed Hayward, got Kyrie. He tried really hard, but he could never get a huge free agent because of the Boston stigma and could never land the #1 pick in the draft when there was a franchise player available at #1.

Well sure, but without any context on what that potential trade could be, it’s kind of silly to just be like “they have to trade brown”

Yeah I mean the Kemba signing was bad but a lot of his moves made sense at the time they happened. Just had a couple of really bad breaks with Kyrie and with Hayward
I understand he still has to pay the piper for the results but I think the perception is a little out of whack from what actually went down

Right and it’s kind of silly to do the opposite as well.

The most fair criticism would be that he let Hayward, Kyrie, Rozier, and Horford walk and got nothing back. Hasn’t drafted well since taking Tatum. Probably should have used some assets for win now moves the last couple years.

So Stevens doesn't want to coach anymore? I'm sure he hates coaching in the NBA with the diva players he has to deal with.
I would think he'd rather go back to college than an NBA front office gig, but idk.

Or Brad came in with a plan and made a case against Ainge and what he would do differently. Pretty interesting.
To be fair, he’s not gonna have prime Lebron in his way...
