NIL and paying players is here to stay. There isn’t any way the players are going back to under the table and getting a free car. Best we can hope for is some type of portal limitations.

His NIL contract is what he broke. Most contracts now have penalties for breaking them. And since he wasn’t in the portal, Miami could not contact him.

Most people don’t sign contracts like the one in this lawsuit. They’re largely at will employees. Your analogy doesn’t work here.
That’s like you asking why can’t Patrick Mahomes just sign with the Patriots next week since people switch jobs all the time. If you sign a contract to do X job for a specific amount of time, you can’t just leave for another job. Typically there are liquidated damages for both sides and non-competes if the employee decides to bounce.
