Berns was a real good TB, moved to fullback in favor of I.M. Hipp.

Who was power 4/5/6 program with most wins?

In the 2000s?

That would be the Texas Longhorns (110-19).

Oklahoma had the same amount of wins but more losses, so Texas wins that competition based on winning percentage. However, Texas only managed to win the Big 12 twice while Oklahoma won it six times in that same decade.

Helps playing more games than any other school all-time and playing the likes of Oberlin College and then when the Big Ten was the Big two Little eight for decades.

Nebraska going 60-3 over a 5-year period in 90s was darn impressive

By, the way, did Miss State always suck?

Miss. State has more SEC titles in swimming than they do in football...and they dropped the swim program during WW2.

Surprised Nebraska wasn't in the 90s. In addition to their 3 national championships, they had a couple of really good teams that didn't win the title (1993, 1999). That's half the decade with only two losses in total.

FSU was better than Nebraska 7/10 years in the ‘90s.

I am not necessarily saying Nebraska didn’t improve in the mid ‘90s, but there were are a few favorable factors that helped Osborne surge in the final few years of his career:

1. He didn’t have to contend with Switzer and prime OU every year anymore. Switzer had Osborne’s number. Switzer recruited well defensively and his staff had a lot of familiarity with the Nebraska offense.

2. He only had to face Miami or FSU during one of his championship runs. Similar to OU, those programs were strong defensively and had plenty of experience against his system. Handing him a seven game (nearly eight game) bowl losing streak from 1987-1993.

I know 1995 Florida was great and all, but Spurrier was “defense optional” at that point and the Gators lacked NFL talent in the front seven and familiarity against the Nebraska scheme. Some things snowballed and they got embarrassed by an unorthodox opponent whose strength was their weakness.

Spurrier got serious on D the next year and hired Bob Stoops from Kansas State, a rival of Nebraska. They would have fared a lot better in a 1996 rematch.

3. Bowl ties meant he didn’t have to play 1994 Penn State and 1997 Michigan for the national title.

Ohio State is the most consistent program in history. Never won a decade but second all-time.

I remember the losses more than the wins, except the championship wins.

They were #2 behind Florida State that decade with an overall record of 108-16-1.
