Cracka, did you win money today? It bums me out I didn't bet Carlitos, but there wasn't enough upside, and it was a point or two from going the other way. Novak had set point in the second and he should have had the break in early in the fifth. I think the ball people said he should have hit as an overhead might have gone out. Good tournament overall. I think the result is good for the game, both having a young guy win, and keeping Rafa in striking distance of Novak.
I look forward to hardcourt season. I think you have a solid 5-10 guys who can win the U.S. Open.

I just think people have to come to grips with the fact nadal may be done winning slams. I think the absolute ceiling for djokovic is 25. They may be all time greats but Father Time comes for us all.

It's probably over. But, last year he won the first two and was in the semis of the third. But, yeah, when the body goes -- it can be ugly.

Yeah but not a ton. Had 3-1 Alcaraz at a ridiculous +630 that would have been nice, but after he didn't convert to go up 2-0 in the 4th it wasn't really close to hitting.

I saw a good angle somewhere, either on TV or on a highlight clip, that showed it clearly about to drop in.

There was a time when I thought Fritz had a great shot but now I'm not sure. I don't think Novak will even reach the final there. He hasn't won it since 2018 and that was vs. Delpo in the final. Yeah, I'm obviously aware of all the Covid BS and the bogus DQ, but that tourney is brutal on the body and there are too many young bangers these days.

Yeah it's pretty clear here on the replay

Didn't get to finish it until yesterday evening. That was one of the better matches I've seen in a long time.
08 Nadal vs Federer when Nadal won his first Wimbledon (I was rooting for Roger) was probably the best match I've ever seen.
2019 Djokovic vs Federer was probably the second best (again, rooting for Roger). Djokovic having two of the most clutch returns, both in the same tie break.

Hope we get to see this matchup again in a non-windy setting while Novak is still close to his best.

Is it outlandish to think Djokovic wins in straight sets tomorrow? I think he does...
Heard some cheering for double faults but mostly the crowd was good as per usual. Pure class from Djokovic.
In my eyes, there are very few sporting events as beautiful to watch as Grand Slam Championship tennis matches. I love tennis.

I am a super fan of the majors. I really have no favorite but just
Love to watch great tennis.

They will. Novak has a lot of life left. I mean the injury risk is going to rise but he had barely slowed down by the end of the match. His stamina is just incredible.

Random thought. But I was thinking yesterday how most all sports have a year long lead up to the ultimate "match" or "game" or "race" or "points finish". You get there and start over for next year. Opposite to that is tennis (and golf I figure) where the majority of fans don't care about the year end masters or the points race, just want to see these incredible matchups 4 times a year. And the 4 major system gives us that.

Agreed. It's not like the ATP Finals are some consolation prize either.
It's 2 groups of 4 and Round Robin to start. Winners get a ridiculous payout.
Singles Prize Money (2022)
Alternate $150,000
Participation Fee $320,000*
Round-robin match win $383,300
Semi-final match win $1,070,000
Final win $2,200,400
Undefeated champion $4,740,300

I am that way with tennis. I watch every major and pretty much no other event. I would probably watch more if it was televised more. I have the Tennis Channel but I just never go out of my way to check it.
I watch golf most weeks at least on Sunday. The are quite a few non major tournaments that are a must watch for most golf fans. The Fed EX Cup playoff events, The Players, WGC Match Play (sadly they are doing away with this), Tour Championship, BMW (almost always an elite course), any tournament at Pebble Beach. Plus you have things like the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup.
There are quite a few that for most golf fans are viewed as just under a major. There are also quite a few events that have just absolute horrible fields and are virtually impossible to watch. But I even watch LIV events so I watch quite a bit more than the average.
I think it's easier watching golf on a regular basis in non major events over tennis for the simple fact that you're getting to watch numerous players on a broadcast. With tennis, if it's not an interesting matchup, you're stuck.
