For the most part it currently lines out geographically, but I’ve always thought these would make sense.

Move Carolina to the NFC East and Dallas to the NFC South.

Miami to the AFC South and Indianapolis to the AFC East.

You truly think Jerry Jones is going to agree to have the Cowgirls not be in a division with rivals Philly, Washington, & NY Giants?

I have no doubt Jerruh plays a role in decision. Geographically it’s a better fit, but the East has been weaker than the south over the last 10-15 years.

The NFL doesn’t want to break up the Dallas rivalries with Was, Philly, and NY. As bad as the division has been, the ratings for those games remain top notch. It’s not going to change.

Maybe after another round of expansion, but not before then.

Why would the NFL eschew history for geography, especially in a league that has astronomically cheaper travel costs than anyone else?

The NFL's alignment has been the same since 2002. I don't think the league was ever stable for more than ten seasons at a time in any point before 2002.

I don’t get the need for geographic correctness. The NFC and AFC East rivals are worth protecting its not that big of a deal

Just like with the stupid protected rivalry’s in the sec, nothing will change. Having two Dallas vs NY and Phi games are too lucrative for the nfl to bust that up. $

And if you think they are bad now, look at the alignment before this current one. New Orleans was in the same division as SF. Umm. Ok.

I would love for the cowgirls to go to the NFC South, but Carolina is Southern as well. The NFC East with the Cardinals, Cowgirls, Eagles, Redskins, and Giants was one of the best divisions in the history of the NFL.

The best division based on geography and history is the NFC North with the Bears, Lions, Packers, and Vikings. Never, ever break up that division.

Dallas has massive rivalries with NYG, Washington, and Philly. Why on earth would you neuter those rivalries?

Breaking up the NFC East would be one of the dumbest, most pointless changes the NFL could make

Why would Dallas move to the South?

No way the NFL breaks up those rivalries. For what? Cowboys Saints? Cowboys Bucs? And Cowboys Falcons? Hell no!

Remember the old NFC West? Atlanta, New Orleans, Carolina, St. Louis, and San Francisco.

Didn’t realize how much people really cared about current NFC East.

To me rivalries are more than being linked divisionally. I think the Saints and Cowboys are a natural rivalry due to proximity. Tampa and Atlanta probably wouldn’t be as interesting as NY, Philly, or Washington.
