Doing a quick search on Ticketmaster there appear to still be TONS of seats available for only the 2nd regular season game in Death Star history.

8 seats together pull up easily in Section 302, Row 6.

20 seats together pull up in Section 413, Row 29

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few days in terms of this sellout proposition. Will a corporation step up to bail out the Cowboys? Will the NFL waive the blackout since 75,000 seats will be sold?

I'm sure Jackass Jones would be mortified if a Monday Night Football game failed to sell out in only the 2nd game of the season at the Death Star.

Ahh, it's good to hate the Cowboys. Go Panthers!

I've never rooted for the Giants that hard in my life. It was awesome. I was as nervous before the Tynes game-winning FG as I would have been if it were Carney lining up for a Saints game-winner.

Seriously - I can't believe nobody out there has any interest in this.

From reading between the lines, Jerry Jones' financial future is literally on the line over the next few years as a result of his astronomical spending on this stadium.

LINK

Money quote from Mark Cuban:

"Jerry, you had the biggest ones out there, because it will scare you sh**less, because your whole life is on the line," added Cuban. (Jones had earlier complemented Cuban on the size of his testes). "It's a zero-sum game, because if it doesn't work, when you're signing away, you're begging banks, you're hoping that the revenue comes through because if there aren't 105,000 people, first week, second week, third week, fourth week, someone's still got to pay the bills."

I'm talking tickets from Ticketmaster directly, not TicketExchange or the secondary market.

These are unsold tickets.

Yeah, this Panthers game will likely sell out - but imagine if the Cowboys lose it.

Think back to Monday night's game - have you ever seen Jerry Jones so insanely intense and crazed? He looked like a man who had literally hundreds of millions of dollars riding on it.

BTW - I have Cowboys season tickets. I have one of the few price ranges that can actually be resold for a profit. I'm in the non-PSL section with a face value of $69 apiece. I'm worried these won't even be profitable next season once the new stadium smell wears off and Homo is in full Jake Delhomme mode.

No, the Cowboys didn't sell out their season tickets for the new stadium. Not even close from what I can tell. It's all very hush-hush though.

The Cowboys and Redskins are the only two American major league franchises who don't release the prices of their PSL's and Season tickets on their websites.

Something like 80% of the seats in the Death Star require PSL's. So the 20% that don't have PSL's are the most coveted seats in the stadium - even though they're in the 400 level. Those are the only tickets with any true demand.

If you bought a PSL you essentially drove a new car off the lot. That $20,000 or $80,000 that you spent on the PSL will never be worth that amount again - or at least not for the foreseeable future.

As to how many unsold PSL's remain at Death Star - educated guesses put it anywhere from 5,000 to 12,000. Obviously the Cowboys are remaining secretive about it to avoid alienating their fans who DID shell out for PSL's.

The Cowboys have been selling these PSL-only seats now for a while on individual game basis. It's being kept relatively quiet but some PSL holders are becoming angry. It's similar to what happened at new Yankee Stadium when you saw all those empty expensive seats. The Yankees eventually slashed the prices on those unsold PSL's which obviously pissed off the fans sitting in those same sections who paid full price.

Here's a link... LINK

I will make a prediction: If the Cowboys lose two of their next 3 (Carolina on Monday night, @ Denver, @ KC) than it will no longer be possible to cover this shite up. The Cowboys will either have a blackout for the low-demand Falcons or Seahawks home games, or they will need a corporate bailout of thousands of remaining tickets.

I'm not happy with the new Cowboys stadium and I will probably drop my tickets next year. This stadium is way too big and I can't make money off of parking anymore either. Plus the Cowboys are clearly on the way down. Perhaps hiring a Cowher might turn things around, but that's about their only hope. Redskins was a bad investment on my part I'll lose a few hundred on them. I fell for the "waiting list" bullshite.

Only profitable teams are Saints, Colts, Seahawks (aside from unattainable teams like Packers and Eagles) - and in this economy even those teams have to be in the right price point and having good seasons.

He always looks that way. he was no different or more excited than any other owner would have been under the same circumstances.

Your hard on for the Cowboys and Jones is getting pretty pathetic. We get it. you are an insecure Saints fan that roots harder for Dallas to lose than you do for the Saints to win. Pathetic dude.

I love the Cowboys penis envy on this board. Btw, I'm going to the game Monday night, and I was there on Sunday. In the words of Chamillionaire, "middle finger up, middle finger up, middle finger up to all my haters."

Jerry Jones will make $$$ some other way with the stadium, like getting concerts, fairs, and other sporting events, like the Cotton Bowl to play in the stadium. All hope is not lost...yet.

That's true Ronnie M., but here is the problem in a nutshell:

quote:

"The Cowboys have sold over 20,000 standing-room tickets for their official stadium opener Sunday and have a shot to break the NFL attendance record....if only they can can convince a few people to buy actual seats.

Dallas has until 7:15 tonight to sell their remaining reserve tickets for the Giants game or risk being blacked out on local TV. Team officials say they have "no doubt" that all tickets will be sold and the team will avoid its first blackout since 1990, but as of 11:00 a.m. there are still a few hundred tickets unsold. And they may be severely overestimating the number of Texans willing to pay $239 a pop (plus convenience fees!) to sit in the fourth deck. Especially when they can pay $29 for a "Party Pass" and just poach the unoccupied seats."

The above was for the grand opening against the most hated rival the Cowboys have. Tons of Giants fans flew in for that game.

Carolina? Not so much. Few away fans, much less hype....

When the unsold number of tickets is released today or tomorrow I would be surprised if it isn't in the thousands. Even if this MNF game sells out..... If the Cowboys don't beat Carolina they aren't going to sell out $239 tickets and $165 tickets to see Atlanta and Seattle for noon kickoffs on a Sunday.

And the outrageous ticket prices make it highly unlikely that any corporations will be able to "bail them out" buy buying massive blocks of tickets (unless Jones gives them massive discounts which would further piss off his current season ticket holders paying full price).

The Cowboys need to win. That's the best hope. They NEED to win more than any other team in the NFL.
